Good Basic Guideline,

For those just beginning in the world of shooting movies, this book outlines some of the very basic concepts. It would prove equally useful to professional and home movie enthusiasts. All the fancy equipment in the world cannot make a person a good photographer and/or editor, but the concepts discussed in this book, if followed, will accomplish that. Although the prose is at times boring and a little difficult to wade through, I plan to use this book in my classroom to teach students the basics of cinematography.

Image makng tools change every day. The rules of Pictorial Continuity do not. That is why a book published in 1947 is completely relevant today. I recommend it for anyone who is interested in telling a story with pictures. If you learn how to envision shot sequences on the fly when confronted with uncontrollable action, your movie making skills will sharpen and editing your footage will be a joyful experience.
