Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Chandoha is a master photographer who for decades has specialized in animal pictures. The most important thing in photography, he says, is an active mindthe photographer should read a lot, study many paintings and photos, and watch the looks and habits of dogs, cats, and creatures on the farm, in the wild and at the zoo. All this, the author maintains, helps one visualize picture ideas beforehand and leads to good results. Chandoha sustains this view in chapters on equipment, lighting, specific shooting techniques and, most important, on handling animal "models." Charming and informative first-person anecdotes, as well as revealing suggestions for marketing successful photos, help make this a first-class learning guide by the top expert in his field.

I bought this book because I was having fun with my new digital camera and was using my cats as models. The author is a true professional who has lots of great tips on how to get good shots of different animals. I really learned about animal photography from this book. I also enjoyed reading about his career.
