5.0 out of 5 stars Made a lifelong non-sleeper doze on the way to Shanghai, October 25, 2002

The Stallcups have written a straight forward, well organized guide to relaxing and sleeping on airplanes. Their approach to relaxing and learning how to gain control in stressful traveling situations is dead on.

This guide would make an ideal gift to family and friends that are embarking on a trip. I sent my parents off to Rome with a copy of the book.

The insight into monitoring breathing enabled me to sleep on a long haul to China.

Normally, saying that a book is better than a sleeping pill would be an insult. In this case, there is no higher compliment.

This product is way overpriced, for what is basically a pamphlet! ($8.95 plus shipping.) I was shocked when I received it. I found it to be not much more than common sense relaxation techniques. I didn't really learn anything. Very disappointing, as we do a lot of traveling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Speed the Flight, July 15, 2003

This review is from: How to Sleep on Airplanes (Paperback)
If you can sleep on the plane, the time will pass faster and you will be more rested on your arrival. Any work (or sleep) you can do enroute, will not be waiting or you at home.

The authors cover more than sleeping on planes: preparation, diet, napping in airports and much more. The appendix has resources for additional specific information.

Prior to reading this book, I would try to sleep while sitting in a passenger seat--usually dreaming that I had a broken neck.
:)

As a frequent traveler (150-200 planes/year), I found this book to be fascinating and comforting.
