5.0 out of 5 stars Liars, look out!
This book stays on my desk while I prepare for interviews from now on. I started using the stuff in it and on the first day I started weeding out potential problems. Every hiring manager should have this!

1.0 out of 5 stars YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING! SAVE YOUR MONEY!
We ordered 8 copies of this book for our Employee Relations "Book Club". Needless to say, we were very disappointed. For instance, please look at pages 92-93, insulting the candidate and setting a negative tone in an interview is not something we have ever found success with.

5.0 out of 5 stars An important tool for anyone interviewing job candidates, September 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Spot a Liar in a Job Interview (Paperback)
This book is full of the inside stuff you need to weed out bad apples from your candidate list. I wish I'd had it 10 years ago; it would have saved me a lot of grief!

Lying applicants really frustrate me. At last I can blow them out of the water.

All areas of detecting false statements are covered in this comprehensive, easy-to-read book. It should be on the desk of every interviewer. It should be on a table in your waiting room to intimidate those applicants about to lie to you!

What else can I say? It's a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars WIDE RANGE OF HELPFUL TECHNIQUES, July 22, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Spot a Liar in a Job Interview (Paperback)
We have found the techniques in this book to be of great help in our effort to screen out unsuitable candidates. Most applicants tell us they can do the job. With this book we have been able to sort out those who really can.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save Your Money!!!!!, October 13, 2003
This review is from: How to Spot a Liar in a Job Interview (Paperback)
This book took only 1/2 hour to read. To summarize -- do a background to check their facts, and if they look away during an interview, they are lying. This book describes nothing about cultural differences in body posture that may affect an interview, and does not describe body postures (other than the eyes) that denote a lack of truthfulness. He does not provide enough information to differentiate between nervous interviewees and liars. His examples are basic and purile. What a waste of money this was!

5.0 out of 5 stars The most valuable book I ever bought, March 18, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Spot a Liar in a Job Interview (Paperback)
This book is absolutely amazing! I was skeptical when I first got it, but it works wonders in the interview room. I have a new power now to filter out future problems. Typical is an application we received for an executive position. During the interview the guy looked great, but using the stuff in this book I tripped him up 4 times in the first 10 minutes. We hired another applicant who is doing great. Thanks, Dr. Ford!

5.0 out of 5 stars A "must have" book for anyone who does hiring, January 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Spot a Liar in a Job Interview (Paperback)
There is no way to over-emphasize the importance of mastering the art of screening out bad applicants. With this book, you can be a "wizard" in spotting and weeding out the liars who are trying to put one over on you. It is not only a great step-by-step guide but a great reference for dealing with many types of situations. I like having the choice of using the normal screening mode or the "hardball" techniques for special cases. I am now my own lie detector. I am also sharing these techniques with others in my company who hire.

1.0 out of 5 stars How To Spot A Bad Book, March 25, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: How to Spot a Liar in a Job Interview (Paperback)
Let me sum up the book for you - Use Common Sense! the end. I got this book so I would not get cought in A lie at a job interview, to sharpen up my underhandedness. The book falls short their to. Many times, instead of explaining A subject, the author says buy his other books if you want to know about that! B.S.! I'm sure those books say buy this one for information, Yea -right!

5.0 out of 5 stars My new ace in the hole for interviews, December 9, 2000
By
This review is from: How to Spot a Liar in a Job Interview (Paperback)
What a great tool! This book gives you the things you need to weed out the liars that you might otherwise hire. The stuff works. I've tried it and I can say without reservation it works. There are of course different levels of techniques. There are regular techniques to use in selecting top condidates and specialized techniques only for hard cases. We don't get these tough nuts but for those who do, that chapter lets you fight fire with fire. The quality of our hires has been upgraded through use of this fine book. The author is to be congratulated.
