I really liked the simplicity of this read. It was well organzied and gave me a concise vision of how to start conversations. It is most important to the person who does have a history of being shy, which I do. The author gives good advice anyone can follow and has an effective, to the point plan. A must read in this subject matter, as well as Conversationally Speaking : Tested New Ways to Increase Your Personal and Social Effectiveness.

This short volume is a great primer for those who are intimidated about talking to new people. It goes through body language, memory tips, and give lots of specific advice and phrases that can be used in many situations. As long as you stay away from the examples that sound like you're looking for a romantic relationship, the advice in this book can help you establish new relationships, and build your professional network.

This book would be helpful for someone who is scared to approach people, but I found that it had no information that wasn't common sense. I know about body language and the importance of it, and I know how to talk and how to listen and to listen for gems your friend mentions, and bringing them up later in the conversation. For me, there was nothing new, but for a timid person, I think this would be a helpful read.

Good book, it's a basic introduction to a very broad topic. If you are looking for more in depth or advanced advice this is not the book.

I'd read this book a few years ago and forgot some of the great tips in it. This is a good book to review yearly to improve your conversations. This can also help you find ways to make others comfortable in conversations with you. I believe this book has something for anyone with a positive attitude.

Maybe it's just me but the book was all common sense stuff. There were not any real gems of information.

I really appreciate this book. I think it's very well laid out and explains conversation skills in a very understandable way. The new awareness it taught me is already helping my conversations and things will only improve as I continue to practice putting it into action. I recommended it!

This book neatly breaks down the elements of a conversation and why you might be stuck. Everything is clumped into very small bites of information, very easy to absorb. If anything, this book might be overly simplified.
