I read this book back in the 1980's when I was a young wife, and mother of 4 young children, living with an alchoholic husband. It saved my sanity, and ultimately helped save my marriage. I learned that my alcoholic's problems were his, and not my fault. I learned how to cope, and when to get out. I can't wait to re-read it and send it to my daughter who is married to an alcoholic. JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE SUFFERS FROM ALCOHOLISM DOESN'T MEAN THEY CAN'T BE LOVED.
many years ago, i bought and read mary ellen pinkham's book "how to stop the one you love from drinking - i know because intervention worked for me" and found it to be very interesting. i wondered why i bought it at the time because i hadn't dealt with anyone with an addiction problem. it was a few years afterward that i had trouble with a friend of mine who turned out to be an alcoholic. i would recommend this book to anyone who has a friend or relative who has a problem with any type of addiction. that way you would know how to find a professional who can help you do an intervention on the addict.
