Realistic and full of inspiration and ideas,
This review is from: How to Succeed As an Artist in Your Hometown (Paperback)
This is an excellent book for a specific audience: when you feel ready as an artist and want to start making money with your art, provided you are not attached to big dreams of world acclaim, or if you already have a day job. This is as grassroots as it gets. The area of this book is in what to do with your art and how to do it, from the technical point of view (basic timesaving techniques, framing, matting) to the marketing, management, and financial aspects. His examples are only the style he developed, which are architectural paintings, but it can be applicable to any type of artistic effort. A great inside look into the mind of a real working artist.

I intially found this book in my local library but I've since bought a copy from the US. It is full of excellent information and suggestions for making a modest living from the art you enjoy creating and also has some really nice examples of Stewart's paintings. He concentrates on "house portraits" but there's plenty to interest anyone trying to sell their art and get commisions; the chapters on presenting work and pricing are particulalry useful.GA Gloucester UK

This book I waited for until it showed up. I checked it out at the library a few times. Then one time I went to get it, and the library no longer had it! You silly library! So I got it and read it again. It is better every time I read it. It is great advice for artists who want to start selling their art.
