WHAT A JOKE!,
By DM (Orange County, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to be a Super Hot Woman: 339 Tips to Make Every Man Fall in Love with You and Every Woman Envy You (Paperback)
Are you kidding me? These authors must of had all their friends write the reviews. Honestly, Amazon I feel I am entitled to a full refund of the money I paid for this trash and my time! Their tips are "wear make up" and "wash your hair" and "never go out of the house looking ugly". There were so many spelling and grammar mistakes, I just don't understand how this was ever published. Ladies....please do not waste your money as I did. There is NO useful information in this book.

NOT EVEN IN,

This review is from: How to be a Super Hot Woman: 339 Tips to Make Every Man Fall in Love with You and Every Woman Envy You (Paperback)
This book isn't even written in normal, gramatically correct English. Instead of "rich" she says "reach", instead of "hair" she writes "her", there are different fonts where it is obvious that edits were made. "...dress always nice and ..." I could go on and on in the few pages that I actually read of this book. [...] She tells you to buy fake purses on the internet, take a taxi to a party so noone will see you arrive and then walk to the middle of the room and wait for someone to take your coat for you. Are you kidding me?

I was shocked when I received this book in the mail last year. [...] I returned it immediately. (Outskirts Press is a self-publisher, as I've since found out.)
The content? It ranged from the common sense (take showers, etc) to the nonsensical (star on a soap opera, then become famous, then he'll regret being mean to you). It is extremely disorganized and written in size 16 font. I have read a lot of women's magazines and thought it would be something at least equal to that standard of quality. I was wrong - the book is one long list of random suggestions, none of which are written with the clarity of the average women's publication. If the authors want to write a successful book, I am sure it is well within their power with decent editing and clearer presentation. At the very least, they know that this is a subject of much interest, and they have an audience ready to buy their hopefully higher quality follow-up book. I give this book two, not one, stars. Why, given its few merits? I think even considering this book is a sign that one might want to work on her self-confidence, which is often the origin of a lot of problems women have attracting a man. I encourage YOU to write 339 of your own tips, and then to write your own book for the rest of us. In that sense, having arrived at this book isn't a total loss because now you have learned something about yourself. I just wouldn't buy it, unless it were considerably revised.

Don't Waste Your Money!!!,

I don't know where this book was written but the worst translation job I've ever seen in a book or someone needs to purchase a dictionary if they published themselves! Poor grammar interupts the text repeated - I'm talking every single page, almost every paragraph!
Please don't waste your money. [...] There are many more books on the subject of positive body image that are worth your money. Check out the "Science of Sexy" by Bradley Bayou.

Though I felt a little silly, the reviews for this book were all five star reviews, so I thought, why not? Well, why not is that you could get the same tips from one issue of Cosmo. Tips were contradictory and seemed aimed at someone fifteen years younger than me (I'm 30) or maybe just someone living fifteen years ago. This one is a definite pass.

A total sham......,
By Kittycat (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to be a Super Hot Woman: 339 Tips to Make Every Man Fall in Love with You and Every Woman Envy You (Paperback)
I bought this book because the title sounded interesting. I just turned 35 and feel that I am a confident, sexy, professional woman, but newly single, I thought why not check it out to see what it had to offer. What a mistake! Ignoring all of the obvious typos, I found this book to be overly simplistic in its advice. In addition, there are many just plain bad suggestions that the authors recommend, such as going to a tanning booth or laying out in the sun to get a tan. I hope any woman who reads this has at least a little sense to use good judgement before partaking in some of these suggestions. From now on, I will rely on what has worked for me in the past everytime, which is my own self-confidence rather than looking to a [...] piece of [...] written for a teenager.

Needs some editing,

A lot of the suggestions in this book are common sense (like good hygiene and wearing clothes that fit). Nothing too new here that you can't find in other books, but it was nice that it was presented as a list vs. long paragraphs of nothing just to have one sentence of value.
[...]. It made me have to re-read quite a bit in order to understand what they were saying. There were even a couple of items that were repeated or rephrased as a new point even though it was already covered earlier. It wasn't worth purchasing, but I'd recommend borrowing it from a friend or skimming through it in a bookstore because overall, there are some good points and the self-affirmation section is better than most other "how to..." books.

I can usually obtain some value from any book no matter how poorly written. This one is written or edited by someone who appears to not speak English. The grammar is so poor it is difficult to read. The content is written in elementary school style and would appeal to very young women in content - essentially some basics on popularity but no information for anyone over age 19. I am a huge book lover but actually recycled this one i was so disappointed. kat Seattle Wa.

Bad Move,
By Carla (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to be a Super Hot Woman: 339 Tips to Make Every Man Fall in Love with You and Every Woman Envy You (Paperback)
My girlfriends and i were casually discussing flirting tactics one day, so for fun we searched around in amazon, found this book, read all of the very high reviews, and were super excited to start reading it (in a very goofy, girly way.) When the book arrived, I picked it up, read it in less than an hour, and was very let down. The book is written in list form, which I'm fine with, and then seperated into different chapters. However, I felt that the information provided wasn't really anything new and was honestly reiterated in various unnecessary wordy paragraphs (or points, i guess) over and over again, [...]. Some points were cute, but to me seemed obvious and very tongue in cheek ( ie: men like when girls wear pink or peach cause it's like a pretty flower, make sure to shower because no one likes a dirty girl) and I dug the section about the importance of confidence and how you need to love yourself, but there were too many obstacles in the way for me to enjoy much of the book. [...]. After about 100 tips I basically skimmed through the rest of the book, and sat there pretty dumbfounded about why everyone loved this book. Maybe I'm missing something, or perhaps I should have read this in highschool instead of now in my mid twenties, but it wasn't worth the [money] that's for sure.

You can do better: with men, and with another book,
This review is from: How to be a Super Hot Woman: 339 Tips to Make Every Man Fall in Love with You and Every Woman Envy You (Paperback)
Since I had no way of looking inside book prior to purchasing it, the reviews were the selling point for me; I figured, if this book had transformed so many other lives so positively, why wouldn't it change mine? I soon realized this was very faulty reasoning on my part. Since the advice in this book is presented as a list, I will phrase my qualms with it similarly:
1. The spelling and grammar are terribly poor- a simple spell checker would have fixed most of the mistakes. I highly doubt there were any edits beyond the original draft. 2. Much of the advice is not exactly original, and is often quite simplistic, if not a little insulting. I do suppose, in order to be considered "super hot" by some American men, you have to conform to certain cultural standards. But I think they take their stereotypes a bit too far. For example, it recommends that you tan in your back yard, buy fake designer hand bags, grow your hair long, smell like a flower: basic information you can easily find on the internet. Whether you agree with it or not is another issue. 3. There is no overarching narrative, and thus no cohesive voice. I walked away feeling as if I had read 20 pamphlets, not a book. The advice is fragmented into 339 tips, (many of which are either common sense or reiterations of previous tips), sans an introduction or conclusion. I was expecting a book a bit more intelligent and thoughtful, not just a list of tips I could find somewhere on the internet. I've heard it before. There are plenty of other options with more creative ideas and more applicable content available. Even though I did not particularly love The Manual by Steve Santagati, I did pick some useful advice because he provided a few background stories with advice on how to put his ideas into action, as opposed to just a list of tips, as this is. |
