Editorial Reviews

Review

"But know this: It is good* (fun good, not War And Peace good). And it is entertaining. More importantly though, it is insightful." --Houston Press

The 47 page e-book offers an entertaining prospective into the mind of an independent artist who managed to carve out his own very comfortable financial niche amongst hip-hop s financial elite. The self-proclaimed Black Suze Orman offers sound financial advice in the humerous tone fans have come to recognize via Thugga s lyrical wordplay and re-tweetable Twitter commentaries. --MTV News

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Advice, Delivered with Wit and Humor July 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm not sure why I bought this book. I'm a middle aged white guy and pretty clearly not the intended audience, but when I heard that Slim Thug had written a book on financial advice I couldn't resist so I downloaded the sample and was hooked. Compared with most of what passes for financial advice on CNBC, this stuff is actually pretty useful.

Slim Thug didn't have many role models, but he's had a lot of experiences and those experiences have taught him some valuable lessons that apply to everyone. I hope that fans who listen to his music buy this book. It will be worth the investment many times over. Although it's not a lengthy volume, Slim Thug doesn't waste time with useless filler. He's come up with a set of rules based on his experiences and they are pretty sound. He talks about the wisdom of setting up multiple streams of income, diversifying your assets, spending within your means and setting up a savings plan. He also delivers smart life lessons like, "If you wanna be a boss, think like a boss." In addition, he addresses the breakdown of the family in America and has some pretty interesting things to say about freedom and responsibility. Be advised that some of the language is rough, but this book makes sense.

Considering the vastly different backgrounds that we come from, I found myself agreeing with many of his ideas, that would best be described as Libertarian and pro-freedom. I thought I would give this book 1 or 2 stars for making the effort to provide financial advice to people who really need it, but the content and the humor made this a 5 star book, even though it is a bit brief.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for this young generation. January 3, 2013

If your expecting an amazing literary piece like a poem or Aristotle writing its not here. This is short, simple, and straight to the point. Some very simple rules and ideas that Slim Thug lives by that keeps him recession proof. No, no plan is perfect but I think if many would have had the mindset that Slim Thug shows through this book they would have avoided the recession. Not to say it wouldn't have affected them but to a small extent. He basically gives you a rough course through why living beyond your means is going to get you absolutely no where. If you have a teenager or young adult who loves hip-hop get them this book. Note there is offensive language sprinkled throughout so read the book first for yourself. You'd be surprised how quickly your teenager or young adult would pay attention to this and possibly follow the rules. I wish I would have had this book back in high school. It would have helped me make some very smart monetary decisions and not always ask my parents for the latest and greatest. The best way I can call it is street smarts with money.
