Book Description

May 28, 2003
There cannot be anybody these days who does not take a camera on holiday to record, what is often, a once in a lifetime experience. And yet, holiday photography, with its enormous variety of subject matter, from simple portraits of new friends to a stunning mountain panorama, must offer more challenges to the non-professional than any other field of popular photography. Drawing on his immense wealth of experience, John Hedgecoe diligently shows how to prepare for all these eventualities and explains what is the minimum of equipment needed to confront these challenges without being laden with cumbersome and weighty kit. From a sunny beach to a steamy jungle trek, a day in the country to a bracing mountain resort, this book tells how to capture those images that will make opening the holiday album a delight for years to come.

This review is from: How to Take Great Holiday Photographs (Hardcover)
How to Take Great Vacation Photographs
By John Hedgecoe

I own several photography books by John Hedgecoe but this one caught me attention because I love to record my adventures when I travel.

The book is divided into four chapters: Packing your bags, Seeing the picture, Picture opportunities and On location. Even a seasoned photographer will pick up several helpful suggestions from this experienced professional.

Using, of course great pictures as tools to illustrate the correct way to hold a camera, different camera angles, which lenses to use in each situation, using diagonal patterns, how to capture the difficult shots...it goes on and on. Everything is in this book; pick it up and enjoy your next trip and the memories you will create by following his easy steps.
