1.0 out of 5 stars Succinct is an understatement
I bought the ebook version of this and glad I only wasted $10 instead of $25. To call this book succinct is an understatement. It is 96 pages of fluff. Might be good as a powerpoint deck to but fails as a book. If we ignore screen captures of websites, I'd be shocked if this "book" contains more than 3000 words. Dr. Seuss put more words on his pages than there are on...

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm a futurist now ;o) Anne Miles, creativitycoach.com.au, August 20, 2009

I can hardly believe that Craig Rispin can let so much of the secrets of being a futurist out of the bag. He's probably done most of the ordinary futurists out of a job just by publishing this book in such a simple way that even I can get ahead of the trends by knowing exactly where to go. He's even giving us the webpages and all the juicy sources.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute must read, August 9, 2009
This review is from: How to Think Like a Futurist: Know First, Be First, Profit First (Paperback)
A great book - short sharp and very informative. If you are in business and need to stay ahead of the game - this book is a great guide to the thinking to a great futurist. Easy to read - great design / graphics but a very important message.

Before reading this book I didn't know what a futurist was. After reading this book it turn out that I am a bit of a futurist too. The book provides a great history of the futurist profession. I highly recommend it to anyone that is interested in learning more about the history of futurism.

1.0 out of 5 stars Succinct is an understatement, July 7, 2011
This review is from: How to Think Like a Futurist: Know First, Be First, Profit First (Paperback)
Dr. Seuss put more words on his pages than there are on many of the pages of this book. To give you a comparison, there are about 30,000 words in Seth Godin's Purple Cow and over 100,000 words in Stephen Covey's 7 Secrets of Highly Effective People.

But there's more (or less so to speak)! Without doing an actual count, my estimate is that 1/3 to 1/2 of the "words" in this book are quotes. If I'd known that one can create a book from pretty pictures, web screen captures, and a bunch of quotes, I'd probably have 2-3 books out there myself. Except that I'd be too embarrassed to call such a work a book. This "book" belongs on slideshare.net - not on your bookshelf.

There are a few interesting thoughts. And a couple of nice quotes that I had not seen before. But there is no meat on these bones. Save your money. View the free preview (that really is the way the whole book goes!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Thought-provoking and beautiful, July 18, 2010
By
This review is from: How to Think Like a Futurist: Know First, Be First, Profit First (Paperback)
Craig has produced a really beautifully crafted book that combines content with style. The book has quick snippets of information and several facts that are guaranteed to get you saying 'Wow'. Ideas from prominent thinkers who are shaping our lives and pointers for your own thinking are two of the stand-out elements.
On the downside - you will need to buy more than one copy as this book is a litle gem that you will want to give to your clients, colleagues, workmates and staff. Even if you don't want to give it to them, they will want to 'borrow' it from you!
On the upside - they will definitely remember the person who gave them this beautiful book.

I have recently started my own business and had never taken into account how quickly technology is moving. In a day and age of applications rather than old fashioned hardware, I really needed someone like Craig to give me the advice that everyone so desperately needs. Craig's ideas and strategies have changed the way we run our business for the better.
