Book Description

Everyone who watches Becky's Homestead knows I built my log cabin kit all by myself, and I love, love, love my cabin! The question I get the most from my viewers is, "Who did you buy your log cabin kit from, and what do I need to know before I buy my own log cabin kit?"

That's why I want to help people figure it out with my simple little book-"Becky's Guide To Choosing Your Log Cabin Kit."

I wrote this book to be a Soup to Nuts Buyers Guide for anyone who wants to build a log cabin. Before you go out and buy your log package, see if you can answer these questions:
What's the difference between stamped and non-stamped blueprints?
Do the doors and windows come with the kit?
What keeps the logs from warping and bending?
How much does a kit really cost after you add on the extras?
Can I assemble my kit myself or should I hire a contractor?
What's the difference between a log cabin and a log home?
What are the pros and cons of log cabins compared to a normal house?
What kind of wood makes the best logs?
How do I get water, electricity, and sewer connected to my cabin?
And, How do I get a permit for building a log cabin kit?

If you don't know the answers to these questions you'll be at a disadvantage when your dealing with the log cabin kit companies. That's why my book answers all those questions and more. Now, let me tell you, there are a lot of things the log cabin sales people don't tell you, and if you walk in there unprepared you might be sorry.

"Becky's Guide To Choosing Your Log Cabin Kit" is a buyers guide for anyone who dreams of successfully building their own cabin like I did. My book will save you time, money, and frustration.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Advice March 24, 2013
Becky's book about buying a log home kit has helped me with my purchase of my new log home. Although my husband and I are not able to build it ourselves. I love watching Becky's videos on how to homestead and she gives such good advice about what to buy for your homestead and how to be self-reliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wealth of Knowledge March 23, 2013
In the book description it clearly states that this is a "simple little book" about how Becky thoughtfully researched log homes kits and decided on one that met her needs. Plus, she built the log home kit herself - and that is hard work (it is not like sitting on your butt and putting a jigsaw puzzle together people)! What an accomplishment! That was enough reason for me to buy the book, and to support such a hardworking and ambitious individual. What did some of the reviwers expect, for her to write about how to cut down the trees and process them at their own backyard saw mill..etc (that's realistic - jeesh)? I'm really shocked by the knowledge deficit of a couple of the reviewers! Obviously they have never built anything.

In addition, to her advice on buying and building a log home kit, I have gained a wealth of knowledge from the other information that Becky has graciously provided on her FREE youtube videos and I have lived on a farm my entire life. This is one woman who puts a lot of time and effort into researching how to be self-sufficiant and is kind enough to share what she has learned and experienced with others. I would like for her write a book about all the topics she discusses in her videos and the knowledge she has gained from "actually doing" so that I could have a hard copy for future reference.

2.0 out of 5 stars She ordered a home package December 5, 2011

Format:Kindle Edition
Yes, she built her very own log cabin, but she ordered it out of a plan catalog and had it shipped to her site. Sort of like a cabin with "some assembly required"
