While I tend to shy away from vegetarian recipes, she includes several which actually look tasty. No matter what your tastes, I think you will find something you like in this cookbook. Finding things you actually like is key to eating healthier.

Always on the lookout for new recipes, this is a great book!

First of all, I had never heard of yogurt butter - this will be a keeper....

The NY Strip with Portobello mushrooms in red wine sounds delicious.

Also, two chicken recipes that I will try

Chicken breast with olives, lemon and feta cheese and

Sweet and Spicy chicken - the combination of hot pepper jelly and low fat cream cheese is great...

Can hardly wait to try out some new ones.

If you're worried that eating healthy has to mean nothing but a couple of lettuce leaves on your plate, this book shows you that you can eat healthier without having to give up all the tastes you love or live on salads. This isn't the 5-minute meals plan, or the just-a-few-ingredients-thrown-together plan, either -- it IS real cooking. You might think some of the recipes look daunting, but they aren't really, and all the ones I've tried (with just pretty basic cooking skills and equipment) have turned out fine. And the food tastes good, and interesting enough to be worth the bit of effort to shop and prepare it at home.

Most of these types of books are very thin on helpful recipes but this one has a ton of good recipes and helpful tips for preparing healthy meals in a hurry. Anyone who has tried to feed their husband a salad for dinner will appreciate that there is a difficult balance between fast, healthy, and still being something that they will eat! You will find lots of good solutions right here. Definitely recommended.

More About the Author

I am a San Francisco Bay Area resident, writer and food lover. I have been cooking, teaching, writing and eating great food for, well, a very VERY long time. I've written two heart-healthy cookbooks with John Schroeder, M.D., cardiologist at Stanford University. My work has appeared in the sadly departed Gourmet Magazine, as well as Bon Appétit, Self Magazine and Men's Fitness, among other publications. I have written many articles and online columns and have made numerous TV and radio appearances. I've given many cooking demonstrations and classes in the Bay Area and on the the east coast. For many years I have run my own cooking school and catering business and did menu consulting and development for restaurants.

In addition to my passion for cooking, I also teach creative writing, memoir and manuscript consultant. I have recently launched a collection of children's books with the Where's Emma and The Adventures of Farty Arty series, written under the pen name, Martyn J. Fartyyn, Esq., and When Mikey Made the Rules, by Helen Cassidy Page.

Under the name Cassie Page I have published The Darling Valley Cozy Mystery series and Tuesday's Tea Leaf Cozy Mysteries.

Soon I hope to putting the finishing touches on my first novel set in 18th century Ireland, The Equal of God. My creative streak extends to photography, knitting, for which my daughter is usually the beneficiary, and interior decorating. My ideal day consists of a walk through one of San Francisco's many Farmers' Markets, a stop at a café overlooking a gorgeous vista and a heart-meltingly good dinner, either home-cooked or in one of the city's world-renowned restaurants. Could life be better? Well, yes. If the 49er's win the Superbowl this year!
