About the Author

Colin Wright is the author, entrepreneur, and full-time traveler behind the blog, where he writes for an audience of nearly 2 million readers, on topics ranging from philosophy to publishing, long-term travel to all-in entrepreneurship. He also speaks and teaches workshops internationally, generally on work/lifestyle-balance, the business of being a creative person, branding, modern publishing, and how to do what you love for for a living.

At 24, Colin was running a successful branding studio in Los Angeles and living the 'American Dream,' when he decided that dream wasn't all it was cracked up to be. After scaling down his business and getting rid of everything he owned that wouldn't fit into a carry-on bag, he hit the road and began a lifestyle focused on new experiences and novel perspectives. For over four years, he's moved to a new country every four months based on the votes of his readers.

Colin has been featured in an interviewed by hundreds of TV shows, magazines, newspapers, podcasts, blogs, and other media around the world. He's written both fiction and nonfiction bestsellers, and is probably one of the biggest book geeks you'll ever meet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leverage Colin's experience to make your decision easier November 13, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Colin has been an inspiration to me for years and in this small book that you'll breeze through it's as if you are sitting across the table from him and he's answering your questions about how you can literally travel non-stop. From making the decision about whether or not to travel full time to how your friends and family might take this change to how to pack and prepare for your trip it's all in the book. No topic is taboo and Colin readily presents his experience and how you can avoid some mistakes too.

Even if you're not prepared to go full in to a life of non-stop globetrotting there are some great pieces of advice baked in here so that if you do decide to go on an extended trip you'll know exactly what and how to do it. I certainly enjoyed this book and will revisit my notes and bookmarks when preparing to go on my next big travel adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Resource for Any Longterm Traveller June 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read this before going on a three month backpacking trip around South America. I found that it contained MANY good nuggets of information. From which bank cards are best to what to pack to understanding how to cope with cultural differences, this book covers just about every topic. I also really appreciated the links to helpful sources.

I also want to say that it is organized in a way that makes it really easy to find specific information/tips you are looking for.

I will be re-reading this book before each big trip I take!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book November 25, 2011

About half way through and really enjoying it. Written in an easy to read and concise way. I'm not interested in "full time travel" but rather just some lighter version of that and this book still has lots of great insights, encouragement and thought provoking ideas.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings July 21, 2012
By Rose
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm a big fan of the author's blog and some of his other books, but I felt like this one lacked the passion and punchiness I've come to expect. Also, I didn't learn much in the way of travel tips- there's some excellent basics there, but not much that someone who's traveled a bit in third world countries wouldn't know. That said, it's quite entertaining and an interesting premise- actually traveling full time is an idea that would be inspiring to a lot of people and this book makes it all sound possible, so it's worth the read for that. Good for the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not too many insights December 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As usual, Colin's books is very unstatisfactory as he lightly touches every aspect not giving too much insight or advice. I have bought two of his books (by accident) and after reading both of them, the only thing that apeals to me are the tools he introduce in them. However, I guess those tools can be as easily found in a 10 ways to do _______ post on a random blog.

I was very disappointed with this book. The best thing is the title. The book contains very basic information and would bore an audience of 5th graders. Don't waste your money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very practical December 10, 2013

Some good tips & internet links on the practical aspects, but written for those already clever (or lucky) enough to be successful and have created the means to be independent. Not very useful for the average person.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't expect much for $2 October 15, 2013

It strikes me how a book on such an exciting topic as travel can be boring, but the talented author has obviously succeeded in it. The book is poorly written and not edited, it contains a plethora of spelling and grammar mistakes (one section is called Deportation, huh, who's deporting whom?). The content is superficial, the tips are not unique or of high value. Most of it is just common sense or could be found in travel blogs.

Verdict: don't waste your time and money.

Oh, now it's $.99. Still not worth the money.

Lack of proof reading make this otherwise good, albeit light, read unbearable at points. I've traveled a lot, and most of this is pretty run of the mill.
