5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, August 28, 2001
By
This review is from: How to Use Adobe® Premiere® 6 (Paperback)
After wrestling with the program for more than a month, I was able to get it up and running in just a few minutes. After browseing in the book for 5 minutes I learned new tips and found the errors I was making. After ten minutes I was making a movie. The book is beautifully illustrated in color. The displays match the computer images perfectly. Well written for the new person wanting to get into digital video editing. This is a must along with the user manual from Adobe. Has great tips for short cuts. Will work with both Windows and Mac users. Numbered steps take you from one phase to the next without missing a beat. Adobe tells you what the buttons are for and what they do. Doug shows you how to use them to make a movie. I would recommend Adobe buy up a bunch of them and include them in their kit. I highly recommend it. Hey, did I say I liked the book?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Premiere Book, November 20, 2001

This review is from: How to Use Adobe® Premiere® 6 (Paperback)
I spent several frustrating days trying to use the Premiere 6 help screens to learn about the program. My wife brought this book home from the library. What a great book. It takes you from the begining and builds up your mental tool set step by step, with small activities which are two pages at a time. These small activities are well documented with pictures of the sreens step by step. It also provides helpful hints about Premiere as you go along. Each activity teaches you something you will need to finaly export a video. I highly recommend this book. Its really a model which other software texts should follow. The quality of the printing is excellent.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother, May 2, 2002

Dan Dummett (Nevada City, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Use Adobe® Premiere® 6 (Paperback)
I found the picture by picture style of this book not only anoying, but void of in-depth information. Premiere is phenomenally complicated. This book's "Simple Simon" approach shows how to do the basics step by step without explaining the fundamentals and technical information necessary to master video editing basics. My advice to someone who actually wants to LEARN Premiere? Don't try to take a short cut. If you need a picture book with step by step instructions to work through a software program, Adobe Priemiere is probably not the best video editing tool for you to learn. This book fails to explain the importance of the "Render" command thus confusing the begginer who can't understand why none of the technical tricks of the book are not working. In a nutshell, buy another book.
