The perfect book for beginners in Homeopathy! You won't go wrong with this one if you're new to using homeopathic treatments for common, everyday illnesses. The book begins with a good overview of what homeopathy is and isn't and describes how the remedies are made. The best part for beginners is the Charts! With each medical problem (fevers, headaches, ear complaints, nose & sinuses, Throat, coughs, cystitis, breast feeding, etc.) there is a chart layed out comparing all the rememdies one may consider for the illness or problem side by side with their onset, left or right sided problem, modalities, concomitants, peculiars and Mental symptoms. Then you can decide if Aconite, belladonna, ferrous, pulsatila, chamomilla, etc. would be the best choice for an earache. They usually give at least 10 rememdies to a chart, so you have a pretty good selection of commonly available remedies at your local health or vitamin store. This is much easier to use than most reference books that go into more exhaustive detail. Many times, I just need to quickly decide which remedy to use for a screaming kid. I don't have time to research at a time like that! I want to quickly compare remedies and administer them. I can do further reading later. This is a quick reference book, not an exhaustive compendium. It's 1/2 inch thick, about 8 1/2 by 11" and soft cover, so easy to keep with a box of remedies in the closet. I have a lot of Homeopathy books and the medical journals I have used in practice, but this is my handy-dandy one I go to for fast reference. This is also the one I buy to give to friends and family to get them started on considering homeopathy instead of chronic antibiotics for ear infections, colds and minor trauma.
