I was skeptical but curious about the Silva system so i purchased this tape. At first, I just felt more relaxed from the really great, really intensely relaxing exercises. But then I started to notice that my concentration skills, even my ability to focus on tasks, was improving..so I really got serious about the exercises. Now, in addition to other positive developements which have "appeared" (coincidently?) in my life, I have to say that this method played a part in my having a handle on my world.

This tape really taught me how to concentrate, meditate and reprogram myself. Hans De Jong takes you from total full consciousness (Beta level), to the Alpha level in just minutes. At this level you can reprogram your health and heal illness. Personally, few years back I had a bad weak throat and loss of voice. I used the silva method taught in this tape here, and did some reprogramming. The next morning I awoke with a clear sharp voice and soothing throat! No its not coincidence, cos I've had that problem for quite a few weeks, and it healed the night I reprogrammed. If you're going to try this program (which has helped millions of people since 1966), you got to be more open minded and educate yourself on how your mind works! Well, reading the SIlva books explained how it works for me and the steps, listening to Hans' tape helped me practice correctly with Hans' guidance!

Before deciding to buy this tape set I was already very familiar with the whole silva concept, having read three books about it. What I was looking for from these tapes was the necessary exercises that would shorten the necessary standard exercise set that is to be used by people who have not been able to directly particapate in silva's courses. Unfortunatly this tape tried to merge the theoretical aspect of the silva program and its practical exercises together, the result having been that neither one of these concepts is fully clarified or explored. The theoretical part consists of short recorded parts of the full lecture given by the author to his classes in California. And although DeJong's way of explaining consepts is very clear, the space constraints of the 2 tapes did not allow for full explanation of the silva concept. You will definitly have to read the other books about this program to better(fully) understand what it is about. As a result the space for practical exercises is also limited. There are 4 basic exercises here, 2 on the first tape, which is basically a short version of induction into the alpha state, and 2 on the other tape, these consist of apha sound(which is suppose to guarantee that you will enter the all important brain wave in silva's system) and the other combines alpha sound with the long standard relaxation exercise. Although I think that these exercises are quite good I definitly think that there could be more of them, as well as that they(their usage) should be explained in greater detail. This tape set leaves one wanting more, and of course that could have been the marketing intention by the author, however I expected something more substantial from "a definitive presentation of the silva method". To say a few more words about silva method itself, I would have to say that besides several ethical concept that seem to have been influenced by Jose's Christian background, this system is basically a combination of New Thought(best described by such authors as Joseph Murphy and Louise L. Hay), a movement that teaches the importance of thoughts and beliefs as the main causes of creating our outward reality we experience. As well as some forms of self-hypnosis methods, that teach the importance of physical and mental relaxation to fully influence one's mind with necessary notions and beliefs. For obvious reasons this combination seems to work quite well, and I would definitly recommend it to anyone who wishes to improve one's life. However a mixture of works by Joseph Murphy and a simple sefl-hypnosis induction method of which there are hundreds on the market, would also work just as well.
