5.0 out of 5 stars A Fabulous Documentary (winner of 2 Emmys), July 9, 2003
By
This review is from: How We Got the Vote: The Exciting Story of the Struggle for Female Equality [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Jean Stapleton (who is best known for her portrayal of Edith Bunker in ALL IN THE FAMILY) narrarates this fabulous documentary about how women in the early 20th century fought to achieve the right to vote. It is a remakable story of perserverance.

This documentary includes great original films, and personal interviews. Allice Paul, Mabel Vernon, and surviving suffragettes descibe the sometimes harrowing campaign. Many of these leaders were arrested and even tortured.

The documentary won numerous awards, including two Emmys, the Freedom Foundation Physical Award, and the silver medal at the New York International Film Festival.
