4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Olsen Twins Flick
Kids should like this, especially if they are Mary-Kate and Ashley fans. The Olsen twins play Susie and Jessica, daugters of a single dad who gets an invitation to visit his relative's ranch. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good
My Great grandaughter 5 watched this with breaks in between which tells me there were parts that did not hold her attention and I would agree,it is slow in parts but for die-hard Ashley fans probably no problem.

Kids should like this, especially if they are Mary-Kate and Ashley fans. The Olsen twins play Susie and Jessica, daugters of a single dad who gets an invitation to visit his relative's ranch. The girls' mother (who has passed away) loved to spend time at the ranch when she was the girls' age. While there, Susie and Jessica discover some secret treasures that belonged to their mom. Meanwhile, the ranch owner's son has evil plans to sell the ranch and turn it into a theme park. So the girls come up with a plan to save the ranch. "How The West Was Fun" is funny and sweet and a lot of fun. There's some action, but nothing too scary for kids, I don't think. Horses, nature, river rafting -- lots of fun outdoorsy stuff. It's not the very best Olsen Twins movie out there, but it's high on my list.

5.0 out of 5 stars How The West Was Fun - How This Movie Was Fun!, December 26, 2004
This review is from: How the West Was Fun (DVD)
BRILLIANT! This movie is awesome, I LOVE IT! Mary-Kate and Ashley are acting with real talent and the movie is SO exciting! It's really cool! It's absolutely one of my favorite movies by MKA, but I love every movie they've starred in, so I guess that makes no sence;) But it IS really good! Mary-Kate and Ashley also star in one of the songs in the movie when they're having a camp fire! :) Really, REALLY good!
If you're a fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley you CAN'T miss it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Touching and magical, June 1, 2000

This review is from: How the West Was Fun (VHS Tape)
This is a true American classic....to me it ranks right up there with 3 men and a baby, and Freaky FRiday ( the shelley Long version). mary-kate and ashley are both extremely talented and make you feel their emotions...they do not hold back at all in their performances....martin mull is amazing as Bart " the fink "...at times I almost felt bad for him.....the scene in the raft was exciting fun that kept me on the edge of mu seat.... This movie is great enough to get me to put down an Ann M. Martin book. I recommend it for any true cinema fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great video!, January 8, 1999

I loved this video. I have seen it so many times and not once have I found it boring! It really gives you a feeling of Nature. The story is about twins who take a trip to their grandmothers ranch. they want to protect it from being torn down to build a theme park. The twins have many exciting and scary adventures, whether they're rafting on waterfalls or riding to the city on a horse. They try to preserve nature but they have a problem. You will really enjoy this video.

A Kid's Review
Mary Kate and Ashley have a lot better movies but it is great. The whole family enjoys it.Although after watching it about 10 times you should wait two weeks or so before watching it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars a very good Olsen movie, October 13, 2002
By A Customer
A very enjoyable Olsen movie with a good storyline and characters. 8-year-olds Jessica and Susie talk their single father into taking a visit with them to a dude ranch, upon the request of their grandmother Nattie. When the girls learn that Nattie's cold and selfish son Bart plans on turning the place into a theme park, it's up to them to save the ranch. It's a very heartwarming and entertaining movie that captures the girls at some of their best acting years.

This review is from: How the West Was Fun (DVD)
MAry-Kate and Ashley got annoying in their teen years, but before that happened, they were downright cute, and made some great movies that were also rather cute. This is definitely one of them. The title is a parody of the classic 'How the West was Won' (a great movie) and the storyline is believable, with the villains making sense within the plot. Lots of fun!
