Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Kindergarten-Grade 3-Although Mike loves to spend the night at his grandmother's house, he is worried that the Easter Bunny will not be able to find him there on the big day. After an unsuccessful phone call to an E. Bunney listed in the phone book, Mike and his friend Tony make signs and a map, then write and mail a letter explaining how to find Grandma's house. All is well until Mike discovers that the door to Grandma's apartment building has just been painted a new color. Filled with colorful illustrations, this six-chapter book has plenty of plot tension and action to keep newly independent readers interested. Those who still believe in magical mysteries will share Mike's concerns and be comforted by the story's happy ending while nonbelievers will still be curious about the boy's plans.

From Kirkus Reviews

paper 0-440-41499-7 When Mike learns that he will be spending Easter at his grandmother's house on Staten Island, he worries that the Easter Bunny will be unable to locate him and deliver goodies. A well-planned story line weaves together several humorous episodes: an attempt to find E.B. Rabbit's telephone number in the local directory, the creation of a detailed geographic map and colorful signs, plus a heartfelt letter that includes vital information like the color of his grandmother's front door. Weston's full-color illustrations capture Mike's fears, doubts, determination, and final joy; Winters's book comforts children and reminds them of the power of belief. More About the Author

Did you ever wonder what would happen if you took the road less traveled by?
This was a question I often asked myself.
In 1992, I decided to head down a new highway.
I left my lovely job in education and became a children's book author.
Did I miss the children, teacher friends, Blue Cross and Blue Shield? You bet!
But I wrote every day ( well almost), collected reams of rejections, and kept sending out manuscripts
In August of 94, the first contract call came.
Now 12 books later, the days flash by with writing, researching, revising, submitting, rejections (Yes, published authors still get them), email, school visits, conference presentations, and book signings.
My husband Earl encourages, edits, advises, takes pictures, helps with research , updates my website which he designed, and prints out maps to schools and bookstores.
I love meeting my readers. And I look forward to hearing from you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sweet story in touch with kids' fears, April 4, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: How Will the Easter Bunny Know (Paperback)
This book charmingly deals with a child's fear of being away from home when the Easter Bunny is due to visit. How will the Easter Bunny know where to find him? It's a dilemma handled with grace and style by author Kay Winters. This is a reassuring, satisfying read for young kids and their parents.
