5.0 out of 5 stars A very helpful book!
If you have an open mind, this book will be the best investment on the subject you can make. We are not born with an understanding how to be effective in love, so fortunately McKnight and Phillips have compiled that information for us. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in sorting out this love thing, and have lent this book to two of my friends...

There are some good points in this book, such as Chapter 15 "Showing a Willingness to Change". However, Chapter 12 "Creating Insecurities" is an example of the authors' penchant for instructing people how to be manipulating and controling in the relationship. Love tactic #64: Make them Insecure and Keep Them Humble. You don't Make someone else insecure. That's within them. McKnight and Phillps are concocting a recipe for an unhealthy relationship. Then there's Love tactic #56 "Take Advantage of Human Suggestibility by Acting Self-Assured." Wait a second, now the authors are telling the reader to "Act"! Whatever happened to BEING self assured. There's a big difference. "Acting" is a sham and won't sustain a relationship. On the other hand BEING as a part of the person will sustain the person and the relationship. Unfortunately, the title of the book is a real hook to get people to read it. A better book to read is THE TEN-SECOND MIRACLE, Creating Relationship Breakthroughs by Gay Hendricks.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a new book, March 18, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Win the Love You Want: Effective Techniques and Tactics for Finding and Keeping the One You Love (Hardcover)
This book is the combination of the first two books. So beware. If you have one or both of the authors books DO NOT buy this. It simply contains both of those books in one. Very disappointing.

Both Love Tactics and the sequel More Love Tactics are excellent books in helping you to realize the potential and acheive success in love. This new book is indeed a collection of the two and it says so on the front cover. If you don't have the others get this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book I've Ever Read...15 times!, March 27, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Win the Love You Want: Effective Techniques and Tactics for Finding and Keeping the One You Love (Hardcover)
This is the best book I've ever read. I bought it and since then, I read it cover to cover on several occasions. I love their strategies. I've tried them on several of my dates with surprising results. I bought the book Dating for Dummies and do not recommend that book. Instead, buy this book. Very entertaining and very real. It is the best book I have ever bought. I loved the book so much, I went back to the store and purchased one for my brother. It is a definite must have in your love arsenal. Hey, all's fair in the game of love...so arm yourself accordingly. Happy readings! ;)

I absolutely loved this book. Lot's of good advice on how to win the love you want. Much of the topic of the book really implies having self confidence, which is a very attractive quality in anyone, regardless of what they look like. Smile and the world smiles with you. Thanks guys for an awesome book.

After so many years I finally found out all of the mistakes I was making. This book has really helped me realize how to be a better partner. I wish I had found it sooner. There is no need to hesitate in buying it. It is a very good investment. A valuable tool in understanding the wants and needs of the person your pursuing.

If you have been dating and not feeling satisfied with the outcome, this book might shed some "useful" light. It sure did for me. As a woman, it helped me set boundaries and understand some of the behaviors that were frustrating to me when men wanted to go too fast. And if you are a man -- it will be extremely useful to you to shed light on what "works" to snag that woman's heart. I found it hard to put down.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been worse, April 13, 2002

My problem with this stuff is not that its manipulative (I mean, if you succeed by meeting someone's needs, however calculating, what's wrong with that).

The problem is the notion that this stuff works. Its sure-fire, everytime. There are some good observations and lots of positive thinking but men, and especially women, are too complex to fall for this stuff everytime.

So if they said "Try this; it sometimes works and you have little to loose by trying" I'd say amen. But if you believe the reviews that say "I read this book and now the men/women are falling all over me" this is nonsense.
