Dr. Mercer's book is very inspirational and practical. It has really open my eyes to a world of growth and career opportunities. Anyone wishing to advance in their careers should read this book.

P.S. To the reader who wrote that this book gives self-publishing a bad name...Prentice Hall is a real publisher.

M.Mercer's book offers practical and helpful tips for understanding 'people skills' for success. It certainly proved helpful to me and I got fabulous results. I highly recommend it, especially to people who are not savy in this area.

I attended a workshop given by Mr. Mercer many years ago. His advise and his book remain one of the best resource tools I have. It has great advise and tools for communicating with co-worker, clients, board members and the butcher! The most valuable tools have to do with understanding your and the other person's communication style. One of the most common sources of frustration in dealing with people is not adapting or flexing your personal communication style to "understand" the messages being sent by the other person. And more importantly, people often want to receive information in a differnt manner than how they "give" information. Buy the book! It has been a must read for every person I have ever had the pleasure to train. Most are now senior staff members in their respective professions. I like to think Mr. Mercer and I had both had a hand in their success!

I've heard the author speak. He may have a few good ideas, but both in his speaking and his writing, what surfaces more than anything is his know-it-all attitude. He's an author in the self-interested sense of the word and, unfortunately, it makes it hard to cut through to any of the good stuff he might have to say. Oh well...maybe next time Mike
