Book Description

Hot Rod Basics May 1, 2006
The one automotive job we all dread is the wiring. Yet, with help from this new how-to book even the neophyte mechanic can install a wiring harness. Dennis Overholser, longtime technical specialist for Painless Performance Products and avid hot rodder, walks you through nine chapters sure to clear away your fear of electricity. Topics include: the basics of DC electricity; installation of additional circuits; choosing and installing the best battery, starter, and alternator; installation of the gauges; finding and installing a new EFI harness; and wiring a complete scratch-built hot rod. Photo-intensive, hands-on sequences document and help explain the installation of both an EFI harness on a late model V-8, and the installation of a complete harness kit into a newly built hot rod. Written in easy-to-understand language, this new book from Wolfgang Publications is a necessary addition to any hot rodder's book shelf. With 144 pages and over 350 color photos, this wiring book is the electrical bible you need for that next electrical project.

Dennis Overholser has created a wiring instruction book that is easy to read and understand. While not overly technical it provides the diy type of individual the basics to arm himself/herself to wire a hot rod or certainly to upgrade an existing system. Photos and illustrations are clear, concise and easy to read. Charts are great.
This book is great value for price and I refer to it on a regular basis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wiring your street rod, November 2, 2006
This review is from: How to Wire Your Hot Rod (Hot Rod Basics) (Paperback)
"How to Wire Your Hot Rod" was a great help for wiring my Street Rod. It was packed full of helpful hints and wire diagrams that the MFG of the wire harness did not provide or was not fully explained. This is an excellent tool for a first time builder such as myself "Highly Recomended"

2.0 out of 5 stars Hot rod wiring, March 17, 2008

The book does have some good information, but could benfit from the use of more simple schematics. The book was primarily purchased to help trouble shoot turn signal systems and that information seemed to be lacking entirely. Also, it seems it is a advertising site for an aftermarket wiring kit supply company. It does have some basic wiring information, but I think people should look elsewhere for something more complete and functional.
