Amidst the chaos of trying to raise two kids, reading this book over the past few nights has reminded me of what's important and the lessons I should be trying to teach them.
Most self-help books are either preachy, or peter out after the first chapter and then just repeat themselves for the next 150 pages. This one though is fully of great nuggets throughout, written in a genuine, practical and almost quaint way that is refreshing to read. The fact that he actually wrote it for his daughter, makes you feel like you're reading it over her shoulder and sharing in a father's wisdom. A great read!

How the World Works,

'How The World Works' should be required reading for every management course taught. Doug's book presents sound advice on managing situations faced by businesses, and individuals. The market place would be a better place if business was conducted following the principals outlined here, and we may not be in the economic mess we find our country in today.

Fabulous book. Using snippets which is ideal for our ADD generation, the author poignantly nails it...spot on. Have already stolen many of the bits and placed them in my rotation for my kids. In a world beset with too many who just plain do not get it, this book lays it out and like most great things...it is simple. Nothing magical or Einstein-esque. Just plain common sense embedded in a style and format that is eminently readable and profound in it's simplicity.
