This review is from: How Would Love Respond?: Imagine If You Were Given a Gift So Powerful That You Knew You Had to Share It With the World (Hardcover)
When I was first asked to examine this book several months ago, I was not sure what to expect.
I had been told that Kurek Ashley was a kind of antipodean Tony Robbins. Nothing wrong with that: I have a great deal of respect for Tony's work. I then heard that Kurek had been in movies, held a record for fire walking and had helped a volleyball team to an Olympic gold medal, as well as propelling forward the lives of countless other people in all walks of life. So I thought that I knew what I was getting: some sort of high-energy motivator. Then I met the author and discovered something very different. Certainly he is passionate, highly energetic and always positive. But there was another quality to him as well: he had a completely unexpected humility and clarity about what he wants to do for other people. I don't often meet someone with such evident integrity. He told an amazing story of being involved in the most terrible tragedy in which his best friend was killed. But then the dead friend reappeared to him and asked for his help. I had wondered whether he might have had some kind of breakdown. Instead I found a man who is remarkably level headed, and who has absolutely no reason to tell a story that could have damaged his reputation. Far from having had a breakdown, he had experienced a breakthrough. So for all these reasons I was eager to read this book and discover more of the story and Kurek's message. I only review a small number of the books that I read, and I am not given to hyperbole, but Kurek's book is magnificent! The fact that I read it twice is unusual enough in itself. The book begins with an amazingly candid story of hardship and tragedy, and of the incredible series of experiences that ultimately transformed Kurek into someone very different. He becomes a shining example of what can happen to someone who opens his or her heart and mind. Though he became known as a motivator, as you read the book it becomes clear that he now inspires people to transform themselves in the most extraordinary way. This is a not just another feel good book. It presents a precise map for creating a different kind of life, and one that is in the reach of most of us. I really do believe that it will change many lives. Very highly recommended. Richard G. Petty, MD, author of Healing, Meaning and Purpose: The Magical Power of the Emerging Laws of Life

I feel so peaceful and powerful! Thank you Kurek with all of my heart for teaching me how to easily overcome life's obstacles and be a better and happier person as a result. You have taught me how to take back the power from 'energy stealing vampires.' Since reading your book, I have put your stategies in place to overcome a significant recent event which was both a financial set-back, and a delay to achieving my Grand Dream Goal. As a result of my growth from this experience, I now have even more determination to achieve my goals and dreams.
The ultimate benefit was to eliminate the debilitating stress that I would normally have gone through had I not read your book and applied your principles. Your book is my treasure map to achieving the riches of life: health, wealth and happiness! Whenever I feel lost I will refer to it to show me the way.

Three Cheers aren't enough!,

This book went beyond my expectations. As someone who provides executive branding for top-level CEOs, I'm always on the lookout for good books I can recommend to my clients. Often my clients ask me, "Who is the best guru out there to go to for motivation?" My question is always: "Well, do you want motivation (a good pep talk) or real peak performance?" I'm pretty skeptical of most gurus because they are often charismatic, charming speakers with a fantastic stage presence and outstanding persuasive skills who CAN give a great pep talk. Not knowing a lot about Kurek, I halfway expected his book to be a cross between pep talk and law of attraction rhetoric. But Kurek's message is much, much keeper than that, and it is presented in a compelling, almost screenplay-style method; he certainly knows how to write to keep readers' attention!
I suggest that my clients ask themselves one question when "guru-shopping": Who has this person helped, and EXACTLY how has he or she helped them? " I'm talking specifics here. Not "Guru A has helped thousands of people change their lives." I'm talking things like Kurek has done: guiding an Olympic team to a gold medal. When you can get that kind of peak performance out of a group that is competing against not only their own "demons" but the best of the best, you have a real winning formula. That's a completely different type of motivation than is needed for someone who is simply "stuck" in a rut. This book gives practical ways to reach your own peak performance. What I especially like about Kurek's style is that he is confident, but (unlike a few other up-and-coming gurus), he's not cocky. There is a real difference between confidence and arrogance, and Kurek exudes a healthy self-confidence throughout the book that readers will begin to take on themselves as they read it. I've just finished reading another guru's book that came out the same time that Kurek's did, and I wanted to wait with writing a review until I had finished both books. This is definitely the book I'll be recommending to my high-performing clients! And I don't give recommendations lightly because my reputation rests on it!

This is both a self help book and a great read if you believe in life after death. It imparts a feeling of what could happen if you face up to difficult situations, setting aside past conditioning. Notice that I said 'feel', for sometimes, with such books, specific details of events don't matter, one's inner mechanisms come in to fill in the gaps that details during the reading process can miss out on. The workings of this particular mechanism is what makes this book the mover/shaker that it is.
Something else comes through in this book. The perception of abundance that many of us moan the lack of, the sense of a loving universal intelligence and of our own connection to it, is palpable throughout. The sincerity of the author is unquestionably evident. In this sense, this book can serve as a great tool of much needed healing of the emotional environment prevalent in the consumerist modern lifestyle of today. In the aftermath of reading this book, I made up a list of the lessons that I had personally imbibed from it. I present it below for what it is worth. 1. That the light attracts interest, because of its Innate Nature, without having to DO anything. 2.That I am responsible for everything in my life and that I can change my response. 3. That others have been in worse situations than I have and survived. 4.That my body is borrowed material and I want it to be in good condition when I eventually leave. 5.That I cannot take anything with me when I leave, all I can take along is the knowledge I gained from doing what I did. 6.That if I can get into a vicious cycle of negativity, I can also get into a reinforcing cycle of positivity. 7.That Love is powerful and can always find a way to slip through the mental barriers that we create. 8. That Fear can be overcome. Not overnight. Eventually. 9.That I am worthy. I think I am a better person for having read this book.

I purchased the book only because of the author, the title really annoyed me, but because I knew of Kurek I had to buy it...
I actually put off reading the book as the title just didnt grab me... But I picked it up a couple of weeks after I purchased it and I am glad I did.. It is an amazing book, and after 10 years down this path of growth, I love that he isn't just talking the talk, he has been there. I can relate to much of what he says... This book isn't just a book on motivation, its a book on life... Yes you need to keep an open eye in places, but wow, what a ride.. If you skip this book, you may as well skip all the others as well.. This has something for everyone. John

This book has helped me make an important decision in life,

This book has been a cornerstone of the turnabout in my near-divorce marriage. I was considering a break-up when a recommendation of this book appeared in my email. I suffered tremendously emotionally and spiritually in my relationship in the past one year. I was spiraling out of self-consciousness of who I am and all the values I uphold as a person. I became so dis-empowered and was feeling powerless. I ran away from this relationship wanting to give it an abrupt end as I saw no way out of the trap. That's when I have the divine chance to read this book.
Reading it with all my heart from page to page, I realize I have to look at things with an new eye and a new perception. I realize that responding with love to the most dire situation would be the first impetus of change for everything that has fated to take place in my life. I made the decision to go back and start a new chapter for my relationship/marriage. I intend to keep this book near at hand so that I can read those lines in every page that I highlighted to bring about the change I want. Like Kurek said, I deserve to be happy as people who love and care for me deserve to be happy too. I really want to thank you Kurek Ashley for sharing his life so honestly in this book. It has touched me deeply. Thank you very much!

The honest truth is that I was enticed into buying this product because of all the freebies offered with it, great marketing ploy! Saying that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and found it to be a clear inspiring strategy to move forward in my life, blasting out some old limiting beliefs I have had for a very long time. I especially liked the 2 minute fun goal session!
