The instructions included with the 360 wireless controller say to hold down the guide button for 3 seconds to turn off the controller and the console together. But I am using a PC, not an xbox360, so there is no console to turn off, and holding down the guide button on the controller appears to do nothing at all. I can't find any way to turn the controller off, besides pulling out the battery or unplugging the wireless receiver from the USB port. Isn't there some easier way to turn the controller off?

I wish I did. I have the same problem. I downloaded the wireless receiver software from Microsoft hoping it would help but there's no difference.

pulling out the battery seems to be your best bet.

i have this motion down to a science.. I can dislodge the battery and click it back in place within a fraction of a second, and time stands still.

never gave it a second thought. :)

Seriously, I would rather take out the battery than turn off my controller using the Guide button.
