5.0 out of 5 stars Great piece of history!
Contrary to another review on here, "Railroad" watches were not regulated until the 1890s. This watch was presented and engraved in 1869 - decades before it they regulated watches used on the American rail lines. Even still, many watches were known to be "grandfathered" in. So could watches in hunting cases with roman numeral been used on the railroads in America! YOU...

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT a Railroad Watch.
This is not, not, NOT a railroad watch. Railroad watches from ALL periods NEVER had roman numbering. Please take this to a watchmaker, an antiquer or watch historian for proper identification.

Howard watches are some of the most sought after American watches ever made. Pretty nice watch for someone's museum-type collection! Very interesting the rail line lasted just a couple of years. Good luck finding more original items pertaining to this short lived railway!
