An excellent book on Hanson's work,
By C. P. Cooman (Cambridge, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Howard Hanson in Theory and Practice (Contributions to the Study of Music and Dance) (Hardcover)
This is the first full-scale analytical book (other than a bio-bibliography) to be published on the work of American composer Howard Hanson.
Cohen's book is an excellent and required read for any scholar or serious listener interested in the music and compositional processes of Hanson -- an undervalued and underacknowledged figure in the history of American music. |
