Taped in front of a small studio audience in LA and backed by a competent band (with Garry Goin on guitar who has released a smooth jazz CD) Howard Hewett delivers a great show. His singing is out of this world, soulful and inspired, offering lots of romantic love songs and meaningful lyrics. The closing inspirational song "Say Amen" gave me goosebumps! The widescreen video is edited nicely giving the music and performance ample room to breathe and offers a good 5.1 mix. A nice touch is the bonus material featuring an acoustic studio session with George Duke and Stanley Clarke and a friendly chat with old fellow James Ingram. This DVD is a great package and very recommended!

Yes!!! This is exactly what Howard needed to deliver, after his really disappointing FAKE Journey-Live DVD. This one is a real Live DVD and it perfectly shows his vocal scills. I will gladly accept this DVD as an apology for the wasted money I spent for the "Journey Live" DVD. Go on like this Howard !!!

This is what the fans have been waiting for! This live concert featuring great R&B hits from the Shalamar days...through his solo career is a definite must-buy! Howard Hewett loves what he does and it shows through this DVD and his interaction with the audience...making them feel "intimate" with him. He delivers like no other, his vocals are exceptional, his range outstanding...what more can I say but...buy this DVD!! It is well worth it...fans who may not have seen his show in a while (or never have) will fall in love all over again with his music!! If you love this, then be on the lookout for the audio CD version being released early May 2005!

I purchased this DVD and could not wait to watch it. I was not
disappointed. Howard's voice is amazing and the setup of the DVD is excellent. He is so entertaining when he is not singing.
I felt as if I was there at the concert up close and personal.
In my opinion, Howard's voice is like fine wine it just gets better with time. A fan forever - can't wait for your return to New Orleans

If for no other reason but the studio track "Heaven Sent You, this is a must purchase for Howard fans. The studio track features George Duke and Stanley Clarke in a wonderful studio setting performing acoustically. The concert will leave the Howard Hewett fan wanting to see him in person. A five star performance from a hugely talented artist

I purchased this product at amazon. com as a christmas present for my sister and she almost went into tears of joy because she was so excited to have Howard Hewitt on DVD instead of CD only, thanks amazon.

Just ordered my copy, couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it, Howard for my mind is the GREATEST singer out there, and does not get the respect he deserves. Some of my favourites are on here. Namely - For the lover on you,Heaven sent you, I'm for real, Say goodbye, Joy, Show me, Once twice, three times and Stay,Crystal Clear.

Can't truthfully rate yet as I have not seen it, but have to give 5 stars for antisipation!

Cannot wait for this to drop, bought the Journey live, which was good, but this is is one I've waiting for, the master on top form awaits. Go get it!!

I really enjoyed this DVD. I'm new to Howard Hewett's music and Shalamar and this dvd showed me that that man has skill as a singer, songwriter and composer.

I love the Shalamar medley! "Night To Remember was performed great on the dvd, eventhough he tried to sing Jody's part, lol.

howard hewett sounds very good on this performance in LA at a intimate club. he sings his solo hits and the shalamar hits as well. the band is tight as well,but it is howard's vocals that still is so moving and soulful. he talks about growing up in ohio and what he use to groove to when he was rolling in his ride.

the bonus material is tight as well with Howard doing a cut with Stanley Clarke and George Duke playing with him.
then Howard and James Ingram do a few vocal runs and talk about back in the day. very soulful.

I have never seen Howard perform and this is exactly how I imagined a solo performance from him. His voice sounds as good as it ever has. If you are a Shalamar fan or just want some smooth vocals, check this out. Howard needs to lose the hat though. If you got a little baldness going on, let it show.
