Quiet Comfort!,

This review is from: Howard Leight LL1 Laser Lite Earplugs no Cords (200 ct) (Tools & Home Improvement)
If you're a person that needs some peace and quiet when it's hard to find, these are the best tool for the job. I've used these for several years. Working nights and having to sleep when neighbors are mowing the lawn... Working days and having to concentrate when the drama queen on the other side of the cube wall is having a another mental break down... Whatever it is that you don't want to hear, these will work wonders! Most people might think that all earplugs are the same, but to me, these are the top of the line. I've used several kinds. Most either are a pain to fit in, or a pain when they expand! These are perfect. Never fumbling trying to get them inserted, never discomfort when they reach their maximum size. Wonderful sound absorption!

I have been using these ear plugs for the past few years, and I don't know how I got through a decade of marriage without them! My husband was quite the snorer... And I am a VERY light sleeper. The slightest little things wake me up. And I would be up alllllll night, nudging him back onto his side. His life improved, too, since he was allowed to sleep comfortably on his back without me pushing at him all night.
I can now sleep through all of those little things that used to wake me, AND the snoring! I recommend combining the earplugs with the use of a fan. I keep my floor fan on, facing away, and I am in my own little blissful quiet zone. Make sure that you follow the directions for using the earplugs or they may not work properly. Advice for those who complained about the size: These generally come in three sizes. The higher the noise reduction rating, the larger the ear plug is, and more noise gets blocked out: Smallest, with lowest noise reduction (But still pretty darn good!) : NRR30 Howard Leight Maxlite Uncorded Earplugs hearing protection 200 pair Medium in size and NRR, and these are my favorites : NRR32 Howard Leight LL1 Laser Lite Uncorded Earplugs hearing protection 200 pair For larger ear canals, and with the highest NRR of this brand/style : NRR33 Howard Leight Max-1 Uncorded Earplugs 200 pair

Great ear plugs. Soft & effective - doesn't hurt ear canal. And, they come in these nifty 2/bag with an easy open end! Works for small female ears (mine) and large male ears (my husband's)!

I bought these for target practice at the gun range. The value is unbeatable compared to the hardware or discount store, the pillow packs are nice, and these are some truly wonderful earplugs. Easy to roll, quick to expand, and very good at quieting things down. Plus, gotta love the color!

These are the highest rated foam earplugs, and they work great. Fit is way better than most of the tootsie roll sized foam plugs you get in stores; these are specially molded and fit in perfectly. To install, you pinch the ends a bit, put them in your ear canal, and let the foam puff up until it fits your ear. It filters the low rumble and wind noise very well, but not the high frequencies, so you can ride safetly but still hear sirens and horns just fine. Also works great for mowing the lawn or running gas powered gear. Liked em so much I got 2 boxes. You should too.

These ear plugs are life changers. While I used another ear plug previously, I tried these after reading reviews, and am now a believer. You can roll them into a cylinder and they hold their shape much longer, making insertion easier. They also last a really long time, I reuse them over and over again, and I expect the box to last for years! One tip - I snip a tiny bit off the wider end, because they are still a drop too long for my ear canal, and then the fit is perfect. These are great for people with narrower ear canals who are uncomfortable with larger ear plugs. With these my sleep has totally changed, I can sleep much more deeply and can go anywhere, hotels, noisy cities, etc, without fear of being awakened by errant noise. Best of all, my husband sleeps better, too, as I no longer elbow him angrily all night long to stop his snoring. All this from a little earplug!

These Howard Leight LL1 ear plugs are indeed very comfortable - made of very soft foam and a flat profile for easy insertion. However, they are completely inadequate for indoor shooting. I can't imagine that they are anywhere near a NRR of 32 as claimed. I put these in at the range, and the firing sounded like cannons booming in my head. I'd recommend them for sleeping, or outdoor yard activities, but not for firearm noise protection.

They work, plain and simple. I previously bought the green, cone shaped ear plugs from "x" brand (I actually don't recall the name [nor do I ever want to think of the name again], because I threw them away as soon as I bought these.) Skip whatever other brand you were thinking of buying and give these a try first. They work!
1.) Make sure you read the directions. I never knew this, but apparently there is a proper way to place the ear plugs in your ear. It takes more than just "rolling them up and shoving them in." You have to do it in such a way that they are properly placed deep inside the canal, as to provide maximum comfort, keep them from falling out during the night and maximize the sound buffering. 2.) If you find that your ears are sore - if you're the kind of person who wears them at night time as I do - give it about 2 weeks. Also, take a few days off to let your ears adjust and recover. When I first started wearing them, my ears were very sore the next morning. It also felt very awkward to wear them throughout the night. But now, 3-4 weeks later, my ears are not sore at all, they stay in all night and they are only MILDLY uncomfortable. The only really annoying thing is that my ears get very itchy in the morning. Usually I can remedy this by scratching my ear OVER the ear plug. Then I just pass out again and all is well. Tip: Don't take them out during the morning, because you'll never get them back in. Your hands will A.) Be way too fatigued and tired and B.) The earplug will be much too warm and pliable. If you plan on doing that, keep a "cold" spare pair hanging around the bed somewhere that you can conveniently and easily reach. I keep a spare pair on the bottom of my window sill, since the head of my bed is near the window. What else? They do an excellent job! Also, I noticed I have less ear wax these days. I have no idea why or what the scientific explanation is behind this, but I definitely don't have as much ear wax - I would guess it has something to do with the air interacting with the skin in your ear canal and since you cut off the air supply you cut off the wax production. Kind of a cool side effect. Also, strangely enough, after about 1 month of using these, the tinnitus in my left ear has diminished dramatically. I have no idea why, but I suspect it's because i'm not using my fan for "white noise" anymore and that has probably given my ear drums a much needed rest. I always felt that I was abusing my ear drums using the fan as white noise. But no more! So give these a try! And wait 2 weeks before you make any conclusions.

Jack hammers and shotguns, might want to go with something a little bigger unless you have narrow ear canals. Sleeping through barking dogs, screaming babies, neighbor's monster truck; yes, yes, yes. I've been using these for about a year and I am addicted to them.

Most comfortable on the market,

I've probably tried every earplug on the market and these are definately the best.
They are far more comfortable then any other and completely block out noise (even the base beat on my upstairs neighbor's stereo!). Just remember to gently twist them as you are removing them to prevent suction in the ear canal. |
