I am a regular swimmer, I swim 6 days a week. I have tried many earplugs: mack's pillow soft ear plugs, mack's aquablock ear plug, howard leight aquaseal ear plug, and arena ergo liquid silicone ear plug. In the beginning, I used mack's pillow soft ear plugs, but then after 3 days, it would start leaking water into my ear. So I switched to mack's aquablock ear plug, still does't fit, water leaks in. Then I tried arena ergo, I figure since it's the most expensive swimming earplug on amazon, it must worth a try. It turns out hurts my ear, I couldn't even fit it in. $16 down the drain. Finally I tried howard leight aquaseal ear plug, WOW, waht a difference, easy to put it in, perfect fit, never leaks. I am so happy. I am never going back to other brands again.

Update:
I have been using the same aquaseal earplugs for over one year now.
They never leaked, therefore I never have to change them. They are also the softest earplugs I ever had. Theforefore they are very comfortable. I don't even feel them.

Agree with the other review. These earplugs work well in blocking out water while swimming. They also block out some sound. They are squishy and soft plastic (not as squishy as mac's silicone pillow soft earplugs) and do not irritate my ears. They seem durable, withstanding my swimming in a chlorine pool.

My husband has been using the AquaSeal earplugs by Sperian daily when he swims. He liked the fact that the earplugs did a good job keeping the water out of his ears. Several days ago when he attempted to remove one of the plugs from his ear, the "stem" pulled off leaving the plug portion still in his ear. My limited efforts to remove the plug with a pair of tweezers resulted in pieces of the plug breaking off like bread crumbs. Finally we went to see a doctor. The doctor also had a problem with pieces of the plug breaking off. After several unsuccessful attempts, she was finally able to remove the plug using a pair of forcepts and a lighted Q-tip (who knew that there were lighted Q-tips.

Three times I attempted to contact Sperian during office hours at the 800 number on the package. Each time a computer answered and asked me to wait for the next available customer service representative. Each time, after approximately one minute, I was disconnected. I had hoped that customer service could advise me as to how long the earplugs could be used before they should be replaced. Or was there some other reason why the stem popped off during removal. Needless to say, I was very disappointed with customer service and the product.

I've tested a bunch and these are by far my favorite. Something to remember is that everybody's ears are different and it may work for me but not for you. The number one reason I like these is that they stay in. It's a shame how many earplugs I have lost in the surf because they got blasted out. I live on Oahu and go to places like Sandy's, Makapu'u, Panics, Waimea, Clark Little's spot, and Pipe. These have never fallen out. They get floppy and start breaking down after a while, but seem to last a pretty long time. Also I like the pointy tip design that makes a good seal and although sometimes a little water gets by it's not nearly as much as other designs.

I'm dropping one star because you have to buy so many at one time, but I already know I like these and Walgreens no longer seems to carry them so this works for me. But of course if you never tried them I'd suggest finding a single pack and giving them a shot first before you commit to this deal.

I use these for lap swimming. They are effective, comfortable and have a decent lifespan.
Another reviewer noted a problem getting these out of the ear as they disintegrated and came out in pieces.

To avoid that, pay attention to the texture of the earplug; if it feels gummy or sort of tacky/sticky, it is time to throw them out and start with a new pair. This will occur at different intervals depending what the earplugs are exposed to (in my case, chlorine from a municipal pool). Also, it's a good idea to open the case they come in once you are done using for the day and let them air dry.

Amazon raised their price since I bought mine and it's a long wait from order to delivery but, one package of these at CVS was around 4 bucks, so even with amazons new price, 12 bucks for 12 pair is a screamin' deal.

Highly recommended.

Due to medical problems, I have to wear earplugs in the shower. Out of everything I've tried, these are the most durable, I can get daily use out of a pair for six months or more. FOR ME, these are also the most comfortable to wear, other brands fall out easily or don't seal properly. I've also taken these shooting, shooter's muffs would be better, but these work in a pinch.

I still get water into my right ear when I swim every day. I wish they were a little bit wider.

The ear plugs work great but I didn't want 12 pairs. I would have liked to only buy 2 pairs.
