Works well for those who hate listening to a snoring husband, April 16, 2004

I purchased these ear plugs one night when my husband and I had to make a quick trip up to Walgreens. As he rummaged through the clearance section as he usually does, I walked around the store looking at various products -- when suddenly, a colorful array of ear plugs on the wall next to the pharmacy caught my eye. Curious and sick of listening to my husband's snoring, I decided to take a look at what they had. I work at Target on the sales floor and had seen these particular ear plugs numerous times while working, and always wanted to try them out because my husband's snoring bothers me so much. While my husband really does not snore all that loudly, when I am trying to fall asleep even the slightest noises really bother me (once I have fallen asleep, I am usually fine with regards to noise). And since I usually go to sleep after he does, it creates a bit of a problem wherein he is being yelled at, jabbed, and nudged (and sometimes kicked) all throughout the night ;) And then neither of us get any sleep. So, I decided to purchase them for the decent price of $2.99 for 5 sets of 2 and a small plastic carrying case.
As soon as we returned home, I had to try them out -- so I read the directions and then waited until my husband and I were having a conversation (ha!), and I snuck them into my ears. I was amazed to find that, while I could hear him, it was as if he were yelling to me from hundreds of feet away and I could barely make out what he was saying.
As others have stated, they are a bit difficult to get into the ear canal -- really, you have to be very quick at placing them in your ears after smashing them into the small cylinder shape (as the instructions direct). I found myself having to re-smash them multiple times before getting it right! You must be sure to follow the directions carefully, as they will not work well if you do not have them placed in your ear canal properly.
After you've gotten them into place correctly, they really do eliminate much of the sound around you. I have them in my ears now as I am typing this, with the keyboard no more than 1.5 feet away, and I cannot hear myself typing.
The larger end of the ear plugs make it very easy to grasp them when you are putting them in and taking them out. They are a bit uncomfortable at first, but you will most likely get use to them after a few minutes.
My only qualm about these ear plugs is one that I really have with all foam ear plugs - the feeling of pressure. The feeling of the pressure in my ears almost gives me a headache.
Otherwise, they work very well and I would definitely recommend them.

I love these earplugs. They do not hurt your ears at all when you sleep. You must try them if you have problems sleeping because of noise.
