PROS - slate tiles and copper accents look nice

CONS - Almost too many to mention! If the previous reviewer thinks there is anything serene about this clock, he must come from a very loud household. The water pump hums so loud you can't even hear people talking on the other side of the room from it. This clock is cheap, cheap CHEAPLY made. Made in China proudly stamped on its back (You'd think a Howard Miller product would be built in the USA) one AA battery runs the pendulum, the other runs the cheap clock timepiece - it isn't even a real pendulum clock, just runs on two batteries. The running water even on the lowest setting is too agressive and splashes. The riverbed stones they provide only fill about 1/3 of the base. The light is small and cheap looking.

The second hand can't seem to defy gravity. Once it gets to the 10 after or 10 'til, it falls all the way to the 6 o'clock position. Nice quality there!

There are so many plastic and pot metal parts to this "clock" you would think you could buy it at Wally World for $99. I am not exaggerating - it is almost completely junk.

The only reason I didn't give it one star - once assembled and in place it looks nice. I guess style over substance is the new battle cry for America. :(

Do yourself a favor - avoid this clock at any price.

If you've ever wanted a lighted waterfall in your entry, living-room, or bedroom, this clock is what you've been yearning for. How soothing is the sound of falling water? The slow, comforting tick-tock of a grandfather clock? The look of weathered stone? This clock--at home with almost any decor, whether traditional or ultra-modern, --tells time elegantly while humidifying your environs (it probably puts out negative ions as well).

Most people will want the copper to age to a dull, earthy tarnish; but I happen to like polished copper, so I would lacquer the metalwork before setting it up. I could see this clock lending grace to an otherwise dull corner: with some tallish, low light-level tolerant water plants (bare-rooted closet plants, or aspidistra?) anchored amonst the rocks in the floor reservoir, --but arranged so as not to impede the lights at night.

Attention physicians and dentists: you need this serenely beautiful clock in your waiting room to calm my apprehensions while I'm waiting to see you. . . .

[NB: Be sure to use distilled water so that you don't have ugly white mineral build-up on the slate.]

This clock has stood decoratively in my dark, narrow entryway for about two years, fascinating all who come to visit. It provides interest in an almost impossibly difficult area which can take only very small footprint items. It is even more beautiful than it was when first delivered, gracefully withstanding knockabouts from traffic, pets, and grandchildren. The patina of the copper is lovely. It is LOW LOW LOW maintenance....and yes...at times of the year plants requiring only low light live in the base of it.
