5.0 out of 5 stars Lush and Transporting, July 19, 2011
This review is from: Howards End (Audio CD)
The soundtrack to the film, Howards End is truly enchanting to listen to. If you enjoyed the film, you will definitely like listening to this score. If you have never seen the film, I still think any fan of classical music would enjoy this cd. There are three period pieces included in the soundtrack, written by Percy Grainger and a motif from one of Beethoven's symphony is used to great effect in a couple of the tracks. It is lush, evocative music. I love seeing the film in my minds eye while listening, especially the beautiful elements of nature that were so memorably filmed for the movie. I sure miss seeing Helena Bonham Carter in these period dramas, seems like she just plays unlikable characters anymore (Bellatrix Lestrange, Queen of Hearts). She is a fabulous actress, and did amazing work for Merchant Ivory.
