When we usually read or watch something about World War 2, we see a specific battle or high-ranking official's account of the war. Seldom do we follow an "everyman" through is experiences, and see events from the point of view of someone who was directly involved in the shaping of history, but unknown to the general populace.

Harold's story is amazing, telling us the life of a Howitzer gunner that ends up seeing quite a bit more action than the average G.I., and what it's like to have to scout unfriendly territory on foot or in a plane so unprotected that you'd probably be safer on foot. The story is riveting, as vivid first hand accounts bring World War 2 to life.

And this is before the treasure comes into play.

The Holy Right Hand of Hungary was claimed to have been found by a few groups, but Harold's vivid account of what happened, and it's correlation with documented historical fact, makes this book the definitive answer of what happened with the retrieval of Hungary's most important relic.

Howitzers, Grasshoppers, and the Holy Right Hand is a fascinating example of the bravery and sacrifice of our World War II veterans. They truly are the "Greatest Generation". Unlike most books that tell the experiences of our WWII veterans, this one has many great photos that show the horrors of war as well as the men who fought the battles. It is a good gift to give the grandchildren of WWII vets to see what their grandfathers went through.
