I love Noah!,
By
This review is from: Howl at the Moon (The Others, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
The world is adjusting to the unveiling of the Others, the supernatural denizens once believed imaginary. Soldier Noah Bishop has been welcomed into their world, as his sister, Abby, is engaged to the demon Rule. Unfortunately, he now finds himself torn between his loyalty to country and his new friends and sister as he is ordered to infiltrate and secretly obtain information from the Lupines. Meanwhile, his attraction to sexy werewolf Samantha "Sam" Carstairs has his thoughts in total disarray. Will the attraction between them survive Noah's betrayal? And who else is after the secrets of the Lupine community?
Noah was without a doubt my favorite character in the last book, THE DEMON YOU KNOW, and I could hardly wait to dive into his story. Christine Warren didn't disappoint! Noah's story is as hard driving as one would expect from this soldier, loyal to the core. Seeing him torn between two loyalties is heart wrenching but only makes the happily-ever-after that much more enjoyable. HOWL AT THE MOON can be read as a stand alone, as all of the stories in this series are written to stand alone. However, Noah is first introduced in the prior book and his loyalty to his sister demonstrated in that book helps soften the dilemma he finds himself in with this story. The insight into his character in THE DEMON RULE helps the reader fully appreciate just how troubling it is to him to have to essentially live a lie, as Noah is a man who values honesty. HOWL AT THE MOON is my favorite to date of the Others series, mainly because of Noah. Christine Warren excels at writing memorable characters the reader can truly care about and Noah is without a doubt a shining example of this. Excellent! COURTESY OF CK2S KWIPS AND KRITIQUES

Great Add to the Series,
By
This review is from: Howl at the Moon (The Others, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Great read. I love this series and this book added to the greatness. There is some need to read the previous books to be familiar with who everyone is and the stories behind them, but essentially you can read this book without any background and know whats going on. Some steamy parts and action for all to enjoy.

*Cool Paranormal Romance*,
By
This review is from: Howl at the Moon (The Others, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was my 1st Christine Warren book. I have gotten disallusioned with some of the regular Paranormal Romance Series that I have been reading for years and was looking something fresh. This did it. I believe its book #4, so I will go back and read the 1st three books. I like the way the characters were written, they were smart, funny femine without being week, and masuline and all Alpha male the way we like, without going too far over the top to rediculously cartoon character stupidly alpha macho male to the point that they make no sense (can you sense some of the problems I am having with other series?). Even though it was a book that comprised characters that have already had there story, I did not feel left out by not having read all the previous books, Noah and Samantha's book stands well on its own, and got me interested enough to go back to the beginning. Noah and Samantha seemed like people you would like to hang out with and, sexy, REAL. People made mistakes and manned or wolfed up! and working the issues out was fun to read and got to be a paage turner to see what they were going to do next.
And the book while with a well written plot, was indeed about the hero/heroine and their relationship and how it developed. I like the way the story grew and the characters interacted.

A Romance Action book!,

This review is from: Howl at the Moon: A novel of The Others (Kindle Edition)
I have read several of Christine Warren's books over the last few weeks. I must say I found this one to be very well written with well defined characters and a very good plot. I thought Samatha was as interesting as I found her in "The Big Bad Wolf". I even liked Noah, and I don't usually like the guys in uniform in romance novels....sorry! What I did not llike was how easily (to me) Samatha forgave Noah. I know the story had to get moving and there is the whole "mate" thing but come on! He used her.... yes he did....he lied..... yes he did and she cry's all night after a few dumb I'm so sorrys and it's all good? Her decision...yes, but I agree with her friends... it seemed a tad bit easy for me! And the whole deceiving the Alpha issue I guess we have to believe will be addressed in another book. I don't know if Samatha could be my Beta after this incident! All in all I thought it was a pretty good book. I wait to read all future submissions.

Howl at the Moon,

This review is from: Howl at the Moon (The Others, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Samantha Carstairs is best friends with the Lupine community's smartest, most brilliant scientist. As well, she works for the Alpha of her pack, the Silverback Clan. Her life is good, and she is happy.
Noah Baker is friends with `The Others', in particular the Silverback Clan. Unfortunately, his personal life and his professional life are about to collide. He does not want to betray his friends, but neither can he let down his commanders. Samantha and Noah desire each other, even if they fight every step of the way. Can their relationship survive Noah doing his duty and Samantha keeping secrets? Or will they lose each other to these secrets and lies? Howl at the Moon is a fantastic read with well-drawn characters and relationships. Ms. Warren keeps the readers interest and feelings. She develops relationships not only between Noah and Samantha, but with other characters that makes the reader enjoy every page. This is the first book of Ms. Warren's I have had the pleasure to read but it will definitely not be the last. Emma reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

Another Winner From Warren,

This review is from: Howl at the Moon (The Others, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series, but was a bit disapointed in last release The Demon You Know, mainly because I never connected with the female lead. In Howl At The Moon, Samantha's character is much more complete, helped by her brief appearances earlier in the series. Overall I really enjoyed book 4 in the Others series, and recommend it to any paranormal romance fans.

Noah's latest mission has put him between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Noah's special ops `spook squad' background along with his sister's marriage to a demon has given Noah an `in' into the world of the Others - supernatural races such as fae, demons, shapeshifters and vampires. This time instead of blowing things up, it's his job to lie to and spy on the Silverback pack Noah has come to like and respect. Noah hates being the wolf in sheep's clothing. Truth is important to Noah and he's been feeling like a heel. The only upside is his cover has given Noah the opportunity to share an office with sexy shifter Samantha. Ever since Noah got up close and personal with Samantha when trying to rescue his sister, he can't think of anything but wanting to be that close to her again - preferably sans clothing. Sam feels the same draw, Noah drives her crazy and she can't think straight when he's around. The sight of all that gorgeous man in uniform and not to mention his masculine spicy scent has gotten Sam panting. Sam instinctively knows that Noah is more than alpha enough to handle whatever her wolf can dish out. But even as Noah and Sam connect on the most primal level and discover a soul-deep connection that is so much more than lust, Noah knows that having to lie to Sam is going to come back and bite him. He just doesn't realize that Sam will think he's been playing her as part of his mission and that he just may loose that one woman that holds his heart and soul.
This is one of my favorite series. Warren manages to deliver a great steamy romance, combined with misadventures, larger plots and politics as humans rail at the loss of their position at the top of the food chain now that the Others are out of the closet. Warren's world is not unique, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. One of the the fun elements of the series, Warren has created a group of great supporting characters that carry through all the books. Samantha and Noah were side characters from previous books, and here they finally get their chance to sizzle. If you haven't read the rest of Warren's mainstream Other's books, lucky you - you're in for a treat. Otherwise, you'll just have to wait for June with the rest of us for you next fantasy fix. The rest of the Others series including a connected short in No Rest for the Witches: Wolf at the Door (The Others, Book 1) She's No Faerie Princess (The Others, Book 2) The Demon You Know (The Others, Book 3) Howl at the Moon (The Others, Book 4) coming in june: Walk on the Wild Side (The Others)

wonderful werewolf romance,
This review is from: Howl at the Moon (The Others, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Werewolf Samantha Carstairs wants to tell her best friend Dr. Annie Cryer no when it comes to keeping secrets from her Silverback clan alpha. Reluctantly she agrees to give the brilliant lupine research scientist a few more days to affirm her findings on lupine sensory perception before seeing her superior. Sam feels her sudden softness is caused by her reaction to human Noah Baker, who unbeknownst to the female werewolf, works for the army of werewolf Others and is currently performing "industrial" espionage by using her to get at Dr. Cryer and her research.
Noah is attracted to Sam and wonders if those feelings are why like he believes he is on the wrong side of an upcoming battle. He hides his concerns from his friends that the mission is inappropriate while trying to obtain more data. However, Noah knows he would rather die than bring harm to Sam and the task as currently structured places them in opposing camps. The fun in this wonderful werewolf romance is the human hero who finds himself divided between love and duty with the readers wondering along with Noah which way he will go. The fast-paced story line grips readers from the moment Sam and Noah meet and never slows down until the final howl is sounded. Fans of paranormal military romances will appreciate this entertaining tale as Sam ponders what the right thing to do is. Harriet Klausner

I imagine the author and publisher will be producing more books in this series, Not Your Ordinary Faerie Tale being one of them. However this is the end of the series for me. I really feel used when an author / publisher uses an established series to publish junk for profit. I have truly enjoyed the previous titles I have read and was actually looking forward to more enjoyable reading. However after slogging through page after page of drivel and running out of antacid and headache tablets I checked my kindle to see how much more I had to endure to get to the end. OH CRUD I was only half way through, thankfully I purchased it as an e book and so no trees were sacrificed to the gremlins of horrible writing. Thank you for REMOVE FROM DEVICE! The worst was Samantha, as I was slogging through the book I started thinking of her as a marshmallow and not in the soft and mushy way but in the spineless and brainless way. As the antacids and headache tabs disappeared I realized a marshmallow was being too kind. The image I finally settled on was that used and discarded chewing gum that you don't notice on the hot asphalt until you set in it, and as you look down to see the stringy bits running between your shoe and the pavement you sigh and go "oh Yuck". That's Samantha in the first half of the book, OH YUCK.
Sorry, this one was so bad that I couldn't finish it and as I have lost confidence in the author to produce a good story, Not Your Ordinary Faerie Tale in now off my wish list and is checked NOT INTERESTED on my Recommended For You list. |
