About the Author

Jack Ziegler has published more than 1,000 cartoons in The New Yorker since his first work appeared there in 1974. His work also appears regularly in Playboy and other periodicals, and he has illustrated a number of humor and children's books. Ziegler lives in Las Vegas.

John Updike said, "cartoonists are geniuses," and if you know the work of Jack Ziegler you know that Updike is rightily - right - right. Ziegler's humor is rare and you're an idiot if you don't buy this geniuse's collection of cartoons.

This is a 125 collection of typical "New Yorker" cartoons.I have always enjoyed these cartoons ,but they are better described as laid back than rather than hilarious cartoons.

My title is the explanation that accompanies the drawing on paqe 56,with eleven identical customers seated at a lunch counter,giving their order to a waitress.It is humorous,might even bring a smile to your face;but would hardly make one break out laughing.To me the best cartoon is the one on the cover.I'd be surprised if the cartoon on page 83 made anyone break out laughing.

The "New Yorker" has its own brand of humor,this book is very typical of it,and if that is your thing;you will like this collection.

Delightfully witty with some good belly laughs (excellent for digestion). A great addition to any coffee table or bathroom.
