I'd probably chat with poultry too if I drank as much Tequila as "El Rey" does on occasion. But seriously, the title and cover art aside, this is such an outstanding CD by Chente that I feel it is among his very best. The vocal performances here are truly amazing. His power, range and clarity are world class, the music is just plain beautifully played and the songs are super strong. My faves here are the title track and the very catchy "Lo Primero Que Haria" and the rest are very good as well. There are no weak links here. This is a classic, and an extremely affordable one at that. Incidentally, for the information of Gringos like me. I believe this cover picture is a scene from one of Vicente's movies. I'm told that men in many parts of Mexico take great pride in raising and keeping fighting cocks and this was the subject of a movie (the title escapes me)in which Chente starred and I believe performed "Hoy Platique" and other tunes. No question, this disc is amongst his best two or three available. |
