5.0 out of 5 stars Hoya Quality is Excellent
As an avid photographer I always desire the best optics, but I always can't afford the best available lenses, flash, cases, and other accessories. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite what I expected
While basically being just what the title says - an introductory filter kit - not quite what I expected. The filters are made in the Philippines and not in Japan as I expected and there is no indication as to what type of coating they have. While I have tried some of them with my film camera, their performance with digital remains to be seen.

This review is from: Hoya 52mm Introductory Filter Kit - Ultraviolet (UV), Circular Polarizer, Warming Filter (Intensifier) and Nylon Pouch (Accessory)
As an avid photographer I always desire the best optics, but I always can't afford the best available lenses, flash, cases, and other accessories. However, when it comes to filters, I always look for the Hoya brand first. The best filters on the market? -- look for Hoya's own Pro1 Digital Filter Series. They will cost more and they're worth every penny. But the three filters in this kit are an excellent beginner's choice. As a nationally certified optician (ABOC) who is skilled at making optical lenses for patients, I also turn to the Hoya brand for prefabricated spectacle lenses and I also prefer working with the Hoya Optical Labs throughout the country. After you conduct a lot of research and really decide you want the best for your money, you'll come to the same decision many professionals do: go with Hoya. The multi-layer manufacturing process and their quality control methods are second to none. Optically they are near to perfect -- using my own optical lab equipment, I have scrutinized the filters for any aberrations, waves, and any imperfections -- they tested perfectly. The fit and finish of the products are superb! As far as the actual lens filter mounting is concerned, you'll appreciate the exact threading -- they screw on perfectly. Also, the included nylon pouch you receive with this 3-lens kit allows you expand your filter collection -- for the fun of it, go ahead and order one of Hoya's star filters too. You'll love them for all your holiday pictures!

Okay, enough praise of the manufacturing -- how do the filters perform and how will they enhance your pictures? All I can say, I've been taking pictures now for over 50 years and the results are outstanding. My favorite is the Hoya C-Polarized Filter. If you have never used this baby for dramatically improving the sky and clouds, you're in for a treat. Go ahead and have fun! By the way, look at Hoya's own official web site for more education on how they make their lenses and how they differ from other manufactures ([...]). You'll be impressed. JHM

5.0 out of 5 stars Filters - Excellent price and product, June 30, 2011

This review is from: Hoya 52mm Introductory Filter Kit - Ultraviolet (UV), Circular Polarizer, Warming Filter (Intensifier) and Nylon Pouch (Accessory)
I use a Nikon D5000 Digital SLR. After comparing several 'plastic' or 'coated' filters, I opted for these Hoya's at a little higher price and happy I did. Many of the cheaper plastic filters distort the photos a little. I take outdoor photography (water sports, close-up flowers and animals, and lake photos mostly) and these glass Hoya filters are THE thing to use. Many of my pictures looked overexposed in designated areas but other parts of the photo were perfect. I did experience some glare. The polorized filter is the answer to many of these issues. These filters come in a nice sturdy case I was not expecting making them easy to carry. Price - they are less expensive than the Nikon filters I priced but are an excellent product at a great price. I strongly recommend you try them.

This is a very decent set of filters for the price.
You get 3.
If your like me you are like me you are getting these for use with the 50mm 1.8
Being that the lens is fairly cheap then these are ppropriate for that awesome lil lens.

If you get better glass, get better filters of you compromise sharpness.
and things like Ghosting and flaring.
I recommend the HMC line by Hoya as well
price jumps for other brands suchg as singh ray and B&W
Hoya is good and has different price points for different offerings

I bought these lenses to work with a Nikon D40X. They fit fine on the normal 52mm lenses. The lenses came in a nice foldup wallet that fits good in my bag and protects the lenses. When I received the lense kit, I inspected closely to see if there was fingerprints as reported in other reviews, mine were clean and green. I would expect these to last for a good while with normal care and use.

This review is from: Hoya 52mm Introductory Filter Kit - Ultraviolet (UV), Circular Polarizer, Warming Filter (Intensifier) and Nylon Pouch (Accessory)
I bought these for use with my Nikon D5100 camera. While I was waiting for the filters to go through shipping, I bought a different brand at big box mart. Please don't do it. These filters are so much better. The fit is better, the optics are better and the storage case is much much better.

I got the camera at Costco and needed the u/v filter as lens protection. A quick & good method to get the filters - better price for the quality than buying at the stores. The filters are decent in quality - I'm satisfied.

Hoya 52mm Introductory Filter Kit - Ultraviolet (UV), Circular Polarizer, Warming Filter (Intensifier) and Nylon Pouch

I am using filters for the first time in my life and I am satisfied with this introductory kit. Especially useful is the polarizer filter. I could not see any effect of the UV filter, though, even in the otherwise excellent accompanying brochure.
