Product Description

Absorbs the ultraviolet rays which often makes outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct. A muliti-purpose fine-weather filter for color as well as black and white films. Also serves as a permanent lens protector. HMC (Hoya Multi-Coating) These popular filters are renowned for their ability to minimise reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting. The result is an average light transmission of over 97%, giving sharp contrast and well balanced color. HOYA HMC filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multicoated lenses.

People spend alot of money on lenes then cheap out out on filters. Filters don't only protect your lens but also have an effect
on picture quality as well. I have been a PRO Photographer for over 25 years and this is my choice of filters. Why do you think filter prices vary so much. Do your home work and learn and you will see why. Might be a bit pricey but well worth it.

Recently purchased this through Amazon from eDirectPhoto Inc. Just as a heads up you'll be getting the Hoya HMC "UV(C)" filter and not a "UV(0)" filter. Supposedly they are the same filter and the "C" version has replaced the original "0" version. Google it and you'll find more info if you're wondering.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent filter, November 26, 2011

After scouring the web for UV filter reviews, I decided to buy the Hoya HMC. It was highly rated for resistance to flare when shooting into the sun. I'm very pleased with its performance, tho I always take it off when shooting into the sun, as no filter is totally immune from flare. I now keep Hoya HMC filters on all my lenses.
