This is a handbook for recognition and characterization of virus-induced cellular changes seen by light microscopy as well as virus morphology as shown by electron microscopy. The book is divided into six parts consisting of 30 chapters, and is richly illustrated. It is the fourth edition of a vital handbook for use in clinical (eg hospital) laboratories, and was first published over 30 years ago. It has been updated and new features of this edition include an added chapter on the human retrovirus, and an expansion of the chapters on the arborviruses and hepatitis viruses.
