Awesome opus from Kisser proves he knows more than thrash metal., May 25, 2010

Andreas Kisser's Hubris is a welcome surprise from someone so well known in the thrash metal community. Very distant from the sounds of Sepultura, Kisser showcases some amazing talent on this record. Personally, I prefer the acoustic half (CD 2). I would actually give the compilation 4 1/2 stars due to the electric CD 1. While the first CD does have some fresh ideas on it, the acoustic songs seem more timeless. CD 2 is very inspired and uplifting. It has a lot of elements of classical guitar with some Brazilian influence. It was cool to see a thrash metal hero venture so far into the distant realms of classical guitar and make it memorable. Don't expect Sepultura. This is something special.
