I am still getting used to flying it. I find it a much steeper learning curve then the Syma 107G (and equivalent).
This is a step above the 3 channel micro-copters and it is more stout and appears more durable and capable of more(any) stunts. As such it also has more power and has more control flexibility AND sensitivity. You can't mash the sticks around and expect it not too end poorly, but that is a tiny price to pay for the control that you get out of this and it will give you loads of fun in flying it around.
To address some of the bad reviews and comments. If when you first fly the quadcopter it doesn't just hover but instead starts to go in any direction, you need to (re)calibrate the controls. For instructions on that google "calibrate hubsan x4" I used the first link to a place called "RCgroups" and thought the instructions seemed a bit daunting I got through them and I can't tell you how much more enjoyable it has made flying the copter. So if you have trouble at first, don't try and fix it with trimming the controls, first re-calibrate and then try.
this one has the most sensible response and control to have fun with!
For $40, freakin' awesome.. The kind of toy we always dreamed about as a kid, but better.. Super-stable for the size (wind does become a factor outside, but not crippling by far), and easy to fly. Takes some getting used to but you'll have it sorted out within the first few days if you've never flown a quadcopter before. The trick is finesse. Use the control sticks GENTLY, familiarize yourself with what does what, and think as the drone.
TIPS: Buy the extra batteries, as most people suggest.. The TENERGY 5-pack. Buy from Tenergy website, as sellers through Amazon won't ship to some places (Hawai'i). You'll also want the little multi-charger.. And I highly recommend ordering the prop guard starting out (and might as well pick up 5x set of props for $5-7). Doesn't weigh anything and doesn't really put much if any extra stress on the drone, re: flying capability/battery life, as far as I can see. Carrying case WOULD be nice, but it just shot up $5 in price--Christmas?
Otherwise... Haven't used the one with the cam on it yet, but for the little bit of extra money, I'd say spring for it, especially if you already have a micro SD card lying around somewhere--probably even if you don't as they are inexpensive.
So far, haven't had any problems with it--it's all good. I've been running it for around a month or more maybe. Motors all still good, props got dinked and all from noobing the quad around.
AWESOME AND FUN AS HELL...!!!
