Product Description

NeoCal is an advanced, award-winning calculator designed to work just like a real calculator, only better. The intuitive keyboard design provides efficient access to over 230 financial, statistical, scientific, programmer, conversion, and date and time functions without having to access menus or lists of functions. The large 12-digit display includes thousands separators and shows labels for calculated and stored results. Backspace, Undo, and Redo make correcting mistakes simple.

NeoCal is highly customizable to work the way you do. Enable the Precedence option to reduce entering parenthesis, or enable the RPN option to eliminate them completely. Enable up to four display lines to see current and previous results. Choose your own theme for improved readability.

NeoCal is a mature product that has been on the market for eleven years. It has been continually enhanced by suggestions from the user community, making it an even more effective and user-friendly tool. An extensive user guide containing many examples is included in the application.

The NeoCal App is the only calculator I have ever used across three platforms, starting with the old PALM 2's. Make sure you purchase the version with the needed features as there is a big difference between Financial, Scientific, Lite and Advanced. But BEWARE!!! You may find AMAZON's DRM suddenly disabling the app! All Amazon says about DRM is "periodically the DRM token will be refreshed, more information to be provided later". No word about your purchase suddenly being useless until Internet access is available. Where I work wireless internet is not provided so it was a HUGE surprise when the software stopped without explanation except "Internet access required". I would recommend anyone considering purchase of this software to look to another App store that does not impose such crippling DRM techniques.

I picked this up during the Free App of the Day offer, and boy am I happy I did. Originally, I just wanted to see if it would suitably replace RealCalc, as I was tired of the random nag screens. But when I discovered it did conversions for measurements, distances, and could be dumbed down to a simple mode if I decided I didn't want all the fanciness? Perfect app. Worth the ten bucks once it goes off the freebie, but VERY much worth nabbing during the daily freebie!

This app does not require Internet or WiFi access. To test this, I turned off WiFi and data, and just to be sure put my phone in airplane mode - it worked fine. I could not find an instance where it would not work.

On that note, this calculator is really neat. It has every function I think most people would ever need. Well, except the fact that it does not graph. Besides that it is fantastic as the FAOTD.

In the last few weeks Amazon has had three different calculator apps as the Free App of the Day. Of the three, this is the one I like best.

First, it is several calculators in one, with modes for Financial, Scientific, and Statistical. It also has date and time functions plus a wide array of conversions built in. Although I haven't used it, there is a setting for RPN mode if you are among those who prefer RPN calculators.

Under Appearance in the Settings, there are a number of choices in background/color scheme, although I liked the plain default appearance best myself.

There are absolutely no permissions listed for this app, as Amazon continues its long string of non-intrusive apps. Keep it up, Amazon!

I notice there are some reviews that reported this app needed a network connection to work. I did not find that to be the case, so that requirement must have been removed at some point in the last couple of years. The first thing I did after I downloaded the app was to turn off WiFi, and it worked fine.

(NOTE: I see further comments under one review discussing DRM that might keep some apps from launching, at times, without an internet connection. In using probably a hundred different apps over two years, I've never run into that issue. I keep WiFi turned off when I'm not downloading, and have never put a cellular plan on a Kindle Fire (we have three in the house). I've only seen this report very rarely in reviews of other apps. So while it might be happening, it cannot be happening very regularly).

It would be nice if the App had more Help built in, but if you have any doubts about how to use various functions of the calculator, the full documentation for the app is here:
hudren.com/products/neocal/doc.html

I used this on a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and didn't experience any issues.

Highly recommended.

I used this for years on my palm pilot. I have loved my Android but this was the one item I desperately missed. After months of anticipation the developer released this and it has surpassed my expectation. This handles all types of calculations with ease. The developer is very helpful with any questions you may have as well. Easily one of the best purchases I have made.

For many years I used Calc98 on my Pocket PCs. It was able to do just about everything, and when I switched to Android, I sorely missed it. There just wasn't anything even remotely similar available. Until now.

NeoCal Advanced isn't just a scientific calculator. It's also a financial calculator, a statistical calculator, a programmer's calculator, a unit converter and a date and time calculator. It can operate in order-entered, precedence, or RPN mode. You can switch between calculators in mid-entry, so you can, for instance, type in a hexadecimal number, perform a trigonometric function, then store the result for statistical work.

It looks nice as well, and the layouts are customizable. It works great on both my Evo 3D and my Xoom tablet.

The only down side is the $10 price tag, but you'd pay that for a basic hardware scientific calculator, and considering it's 6 calculators in one, it's worth the money.

I use calculators on a regular basis, have a collection of scientific and graphing calculators at home, and have tried MANY calculator apps. It feels like one of the many TI scientific calculators, and does a decent job at that. What shocked me was the regular price of $9.99, when Droid48 blows it out of the water at a daily price of free. It's a decent FAOTD, but I would never consider paying full price for it.
