THE CAMERA DESIGN --> 5 STARS

The HUE HD Webcam is modern and has enough "style" to even appease my graphic designer senses. The camera body's construction is sturdy and the gooseneck is rigid, so stays in place when flexed. The camera attaches to the base via a USB connector (convenient if you have a monitor or laptop with a USB port and don't want to use the base). The base is weighted and has a cloth bottom so it won't scratch your desk. The overall look and construction of the camera is 5 STARS.

THE SOFTWARE --> 4 STARS

After searching for a few months I decided to get this webcam because of its claims to be fully compatible with MAC OSX, which is true. First, I went to the company's website to check if there had been any updates to the software. **The software release on the website is version 1.3 and the CD that is provided says version 1.1.** I opted to download version 1.3 instead of installing from the CD. Installation was easy. The software has a bunch of video and compression options that are useful.

COMPATIBILITY --> 2 STARS **Must read for all Mac users**

I know that there isn't much info on the product because it is relatively new and most, if not all of the support info on their website refers to PC issues. So, I contacted their technical support because I wanted to know if it would work with iChat. Turns out the HUE HD Webcam is not supported by iChat. Here is the response that I got from their technical support team.

iChat doesn't work with HUE HD Webcam, because the software was designed
to use Firewire Webcams. Hue HD WEBCAM have a USB interface like most
webcams you can find at stores. The alternative way to use iChat with
HUE HD Webcam, is ICHATUSB here is the link for a free download trail

So, I went to the website and downloaded the software and presto, the camera is located by iChat. The only downfall is that you have to spend another $9.95 for the software.

I have not tested the software with Skype, AOL or Yahoo but I have read other reviews stating that they worked fine with those programs.

OVERALL --> 3 STARS

Overall, I'm giving it 3 STARS because I feel that the compatibility issue is a big negative for Mac users. Hopefully the company will wise up and package their webcam with software that will operate the camera without having to refer a consumer to purchase separate software.

Pros:

-Super cool style that will suit just about anyone
-Sturdy construction
-Picture quality is above average webcams
-Voice quality is excellent
-Software interface is simple with numerous options
-Removable from base (can plug into USB equipped monitor or laptop)

Cons:

-Not supported by iChat unless you purchase iChatUSB software (another $9.95)
-Slightly expensive
-Little Mac support information on company website

I bought this camera to use with skype on a mac mini. It is gorgeous to look at, you can plug it directly into a usb port or, for more convenient placement, use the base it comes with and put it anywhere the USB cable will reach. Painless setup, great image quality, and the fact that it has a built in microphone means no additional external mic is required, so one less cable and one less thing to crowd the table.
I have heard the issues regarding iChat, and they're valid, but since I do not use it, I can't really complain about it. Setup was simple, and if I have one gripe is that Amazon does not have all the available colors this camera comes in. But that's obviously a very minor point.

I had given it three stars when I first wrote this, but the issues have been resolved, yet I can't seem to adjust the rating. I forgot to restart after I'd connected the camera.

I use a G4 Mac and it works great, I only have USB 1.1 so the image size is smaller than if I had USB 2 but it works for me. I still have to try it with Skype, but the software recognizes the camera, unlike iChat. Woohoo!

I REALLY like this camera. It is well designed, the focus is quite sharp, it sports a sturdy yet flexible neck, mic works well, and it comes in great colors (I chose green.) The snapshot takes a decent photo. I recommend this camera to Mac users.

I love to buy those innovative gadgets and when i saw this amazing product, I loved its Unique style and looks. I got this product last week and i'm absolutely loving it. It has a flexible body (Stem) which is at the same time sturdy. It feels like its going to withstand all my abuse. Clarity is truly high definition. I was using another webcam, manufactured by a very prominent company, till last week, but now i'm going to let go that one for this beauty..

It works flawlessly with XP, Vista and MAC. and produces some high definition images and videos. Its flexible neck and the base helps to place it anywhere in you want on your table. I was really annoyed by other webcams that you mount on your PC or Laptop but this one has a very sturdy base which is heavy enough to prevent it from tumbling over and a very flexible, sturdy body that can be twisted and turned as you like..

Verdict: Amazing clarity, Cosmopolitan and urban styling.. A must have for a anybody looking for webcam which combines both quality and style.

I love this webcam, and have recommended it to all my friends looking for a cheap and easy camera to use.

I bought this camera because of the flexible neck that holds the camera. You can either plug it directly into your usb port or use the base with the cable for a longer extension. The camera states do not plug into a usb hub, but that is what I use due to lack of ports. Works fine in hub.

I have bought several webcams under 20 dollars and this one is better than the rest. I love the built in microphone that works with the camera on or off.

This camera comes in many different colors, and I noticed that the reviews for each color vary in stars. All of the colors work the same :)

It has been very reliable, but does tend to freeze for a second when trying to run bigger programs in the background. I do know it is because of my lack of RAM...I have an entry level laptop. I am sure if you have more than 512 RAM, you should not have any problems. It runs well on both XP and Vista. Make sure you install software before plugging the camera in for the first time.

It also takes great still shots. It has a very easy control panel to record videos and edit.

Works great with skype and AIM. I have not tried it with any other programs since those are the only two I use. Also works as a cheap surveillance cam with children's computers.

I purchased one of these from a Woot deal [...]. Works amazing. I definitely suggest this product to anyone who needs a webcam. Crystal clear picture and works great with Skype!

It is a really good camera. The quality is great. It works on my mini mac and my sony vaio laptop. That is why I bought it because it works on both systems. I use it to see my mom who is in a nursing home 500 miles away from me. My sister visits her everyday with her mac laptop so I can now see and talk to my mom live with this camera. The price was totally worth it. I am online now buying one for my brother who is expecting his first baby and I am the Godmother.

Works great, best webcam I've used so far... Love the style and colors, great for laptop traveling... BTW - it also works on my Mac too...

I am going overseas soon and wanted a webcam to use Skype with my family and friends. While in K-Mart, I saw that they had the HUE cameras marked down to only $10 so I thought I would give it a try. I purchased one for my PC desktop and one for my PC laptop. Within minutes of installing th software, I was up and running. Man, was I impressed with the quality of the sound and video! For the low price, I kind of expected low quality. Not the case. Three days later, I went back to the same store and bought the last two they had...one for my son and one for my daughter. You won't be dissapointed with HUE!

For me, its a great product. My old webcam wont work with Vista but Clique work perfectly. Easy to install and use. It has a built in mic so it just helps lessen the clutter around the work area. The goose neck helps you adjust the angles and stuff. And its brighter then the last webcam i had which was a logistic.
