5.0 out of 5 stars News On Stage
Huey Lewis & The News are basically a bar band made good. They made some tremendous albums, but it is their live shows that show the full power of the band. This is a live show from 1984 when the band was on the verge of breaking out big time. The show is a great collection of tunes from Picture This & Sports and they put on an energetic and lively performance...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but not LIVE AT 25
It was okay. Live at 25 has better sound, better audio...and Huey has a better voice now.

5.0 out of 5 stars News On Stage, April 27, 2001
Huey Lewis & The News are basically a bar band made good. They made some tremendous albums, but it is their live shows that show the full power of the band. This is a live show from 1984 when the band was on the verge of breaking out big time. The show is a great collection of tunes from Picture This & Sports and they put on an energetic and lively performance. The band avoids any type of stage show and sticks to what they do best, straight-ahead music that mixes rock, pop and r&b. Standout performances include "Change Of Heart", "Heart & Soul", an acapella version of The Impressions "It's Alright", "Do You Believe In Love", a hard rocking and manic "Working For A Livin'" and a funky "Buzz Buzz Buzz". Mr. Lewis shows off his harmonica skills on an extended solo that merges into the show closing "Bad Is Bad". It is a real treat for any News fan to see the band in their young and aggressive days and this DVD is a must for any fan of the band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Harmonica Lovers.....you'll love this one, March 13, 2002
By

I saw Huey Lewis and the News in Seattle, right around the time this concert was filmed. I loved his concert. The music will get your heartbeat going strong (opening song..Heart of Rock n Roll).

The video quality is quite good on this dvd, the sound is good, but not like concerts recorded in this era. Huey plays an excellent harmonica for quite a bit in a few songs. He's fun to watch on stage, in the prime of his life, and the band is flawless. Camera angles and shots on stage were done well.

If you enjoy Huey Lewis and the News, this is a must for your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must have for a HLN Fan, August 7, 2000

This review is from: Huey Lewis & The News - Rockpalast Live [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a VHS of HLN playing at the very best & height of their career. All the hits are here from ''Heart of rock n roll'', ''Do you believe in Love'' & and ''I want a new drug''. Along with great songs such as ''Change of Heart'' ''Don't make me do it'' and a special a cellpa version of ''It's Alright''. There is 2 encores to this special concert. Before the 2nd encore, Huey comes out and plays his Harp for 2 1/2 - 3 minutes, then the band goes into ''Bad is Bad''. This is a wonderful tape for any Huey Lewis & The News fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Essential for a HLN fan..., August 4, 2001
.. but a few disappointments. First the video quality is sub par for a DVD in my opinion. Second, the video is marred by terrible-looking titles displayed for several seconds on each song--wouldn't have minded it if they were smaller and in a better font. Also Huey's singing on "Heart and Soul" at the beginning is drowned out for some reason. All of this is probably due to the original broadcast and couldn't be helped, but I just couldn't give it 5 stars. That being said there are numerous good points: Huey's harp solo, a short drum solo before "Workin for a Living", an uptempo version of "Bad is Bad" (different than the version on Sports), good camera work, and good audio quality (aside from "Heart and Soul"). Definately an essential for a Huey Lewis and the News fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars One off the greatest rock 'n' roll shows available on DVD, December 21, 2010
This is rock 'n' roll, this is live music! From the start to the very end (3rd encore) this is a footstomping experience. WOW What an energy! It's got roots in early blues, with a Little Walter cover as an intro to Bad is Bad. The best way to experience this is to have beer on ice, ask your friends, put aside the chairs, organise a big screen, turn up the music and dance! THIS IS IT!

1.0 out of 5 stars A rotten, rotten pretender to the throne, November 7, 2007
By
Bill Board (God's Wrath, Ohio) - See all my reviews
I once inquired of Amazon if they had any "product" of Paul McCartney's latest ('05-'07), and somehow Huey (sans Dewey & Louie) Lewis was trotted out. Absolute rock and roll blasphemy to insert one of the main reasons that "eighties music" stunk in the same "search" as one of the Beatles. I hope I live long enough to see Huey Lewis, "Bono," and Garth Brooks exposed as the sheer, fabricated hoaxes that they are. Amazon, this is absolutely inexcusible.
