Huffy Main Street Women's Comfort Bike

I commute daily - thirty minutes one way in The New York City. My impressions and comparisons are based mostly on my previous experience with Giant Boulder bike, which was stolen two weeks earlier.
I was looking for an inexpensive bike on which I could maintain upright position, concluding from differential level of saddle and handle bar. I am 6ft tall. I chose Huffy Comfort, because analysis of Internet pictures proved this Huffy is not only the second to winner in this comparison (first being "Next" from Walmart), but also its saddle was pictured at the correct level (many pictures show bikes with lowered saddle, giving a false comfort impression).
Price played second consideration. I keep my bike chained to the road sign in a high-theft area, so experience tells me it would be gone sooner or later. I paid promotional $80 with free shipment and added a 18" Waldi basket, and full fenders, bringing a total price to $134. A quality bike equipped like this would otherwise cost around $1000 (i.e. Kettler).
Initially I was inclined to buy a road bike for its speed, but this Huffy is equipped with universal tires, which have central part of tread protruding and smooth for lower friction on the hard surfaces (as opposed to a uniformly spiky typical mountain bike tire). This is great.
First impressions: a lot of assembly. Expect centering wheels by adjusting spokes. Must have pro tools. I guess I should have spent some more money and go to the pro bike mechanic to save myself trouble. Especially allen keys - the steering bar angular adjustment stays loose, unless you have a very good quality socket allen (I didn't and I lost mine).

Problems: Brakes and derailleurs are tough for a precise adjustment. All play and stay more or less loose, but after few days I have adjusted myself. I don't benefit from the suspension saddle, because under my 200lbs weight it stays pushed to its lower limiter. Cheap rubber of Scotch blocks either grips or slips without any mid-levels, and it shrieks uncontrollably during breaking, giving extra warning tone, which I don't mind.
What I like: upright position, very comfortable soft wide saddle, a "new" feel.

I bought this for my wife who found mountain bikes uncomfortable.
She likes this a lot and has started riding. Only complain to Huffy is that the bike needs a variety of metric Allen keys to assemble. Huffy should provide these as most households don't have these tools. The dollar stores sell Allen keys sets but they are US size not metric. So, Huffy should provide the required keys liek IKEA furniture does.

This bike came in WAY before it was scheduled, in perfect condition. The "put together" information was accurate and very easy. I'm not sure why other customers have complained about the assembly, but it was extremely simple. This bike is smooth, comfortable and REALLY PRETTY! I am delighted with the product and Amazon. - Be certain you are tall enough for this version, though - my 5'0" daughter had a little trouble getting started. (I'm 5'4" and it is great height)

We bought this bike for our 17 year old daughter mostly because it was so cheap and didn't want to pay over $100.00 just for her to ride around the neighborhood! To our surprise this bike was a very smooth ride, and I have to say the seat is EXTREMELY comfortable. I think for the price ($79.00) we got an excellent deal and most importantly,my daughter loves her new bike!

The bicycle is beautiful and just as promised. The packaging and service from Amazon.com was exceptional, as always. I had a little trouble with the assembly, but that was easily solved with a few borrowed tools. We women are not completely helpless!

at first i was suspicious about buying such cheap bikes, but after reading all the good comments posted here i thought to my self "all these people can't be all wrong". so we ordered the bike, and guess what - after 2 days we sent them straight back to amazon. there is a distinct line between a basic but sufficient product and a piece of trash and these bikes are defiantly on the wrong side of that line. the brakes are just horrible. they make horrible noises and either stop dead or not. the gears shift on their own free time and never accurately. i have my fair share with bikes and i did my best to fix these problems but with no luck (re positioning the brake pads slightly diagonally, sanding off the top of the pads, cleaning the rims with alcohol pads and more). so we went to 2 bike shops and they just confirmed what i all ready suspected- you get what you pay for. as far as they can say, there is no real way to solve these problems and even if they might succeed adjusting the brakes and gears, it is just a matter of time before the problem appears again, because of the too cheap components. now i know what some of you might be thinking - "of course that is what they will tell you at the bike shop. they know these were bought on the web, and want to scare you so next time you will buy your bikes at their place" but believe me, i can screen such people easily.
now we are not looking for bikes to crash boulders with or to smell burning rubber, just some basic bikes to Cruise around the city (NY), but brakes and gears are the bare basics, and if they don't work properly that is unacceptable.
we sent the bikes back after 2 days and will spend a bit more money but hopefully get a descent pair of bikes this time.

Bought the bike for my wife. Assembly was really easy. My wife rides on the weekends and has had no problems with it.

I'm sure I would have enjoyed this bike, but when I received it (late) the box was damaged. Holes in a couple of places had evidently allowed small parts to disappear from the box. Consequently I was unable to assemble it. I was so disappointed. I had to send it back. I chose to order a bike from a different company which charged a small shipping charge for UPS instead of shipping through amazon which used the post office for delivery.

This is a great buy! It performs as well as any of the higher priced bicycles!

I bought my wife this bike because I have one and I wanted us to be able to ride together. After assembly and making minor adjustments, we are now riding together. Couples that play, excersize, and pray together, stay together! We are heathier and happier and look forward to riding. She likes the bike as well and the gear changing is very easy for her.
Huffy makes a good product.
