The assembly directions were fairly easy to follow and the kit comes with an allen wrench and stamped steel wrench for assembly. All the pieces are stickered so you know which is which. To ease assembly I suggest using a socket set and a screwdriver with the appropriate allen bit, if you have them.
The backboard seems to be made of some kind of plaster board material. Since I use this outside a lot I'm anticipating that at some point it's going to start cracking on me. It would be easy enough to make a new backboard out of plywood so I'm not too worried about that.
The game computer allows one minute each to two (2) players to score as many points as they can. The scoring system is 3 points for the larger hole (field goal) and 7 points for the smaller hole (touchdown). It works fairly well, however, the sensors are sensitive and if just the tip of the ball hits the hole and then bounces back it will usually still count it as a score.
The footballs that come with the game are nerf-like foam balls. They are already showing signs of wear with one football having an entire chunk missing from the tip. If you are going to be using this a lot you will likely have to invest in new footballs at some point.
I gave the Football Toss four stars because I felt it was priced decently for what it is. I believe the frame and net will last a long time. My only suggestions for improvement would be making the backboard out of plywood or something more solid, finding a way to make the sensors less sensitive, and supplying footballs that don't wear so easily.
Follow up Jan 2, 2014 - we received a replacement and the second score board does not work either. The bolts in the bolt kit are all corroded - was same in both units. Then you look at the score board you can see also a bunch of corrosion, so assume that is the issue with the electronics. Like salt water in the container as it was shipped from China!
For some reason I can't post pictures now, but the second unit came so mangled in the packaging I doubt all the pieces were there anyhow. Looked like it had been run over by a car. Amazon basically threw a completely broken open package into a larger box. Disgraceful.
I know it is tempting to buy when there are some good reviews...but remember I told ya so =;-] We gambled and lost (twice).
The one star must be deducted, however, because that machine makes the most aggravating racket. The program noises put to shame those battery-operated children's toys that seem designed only to make parents go berserk, and with no volume control. I unplugged it, and if my husband noticed, he hasn't mentioned it to me or plugged it back in, so he must not mind playing without the sounds.
The assembly was medium-easy, all the parts were there, and it took my husband and I about an hour to double team it. The quality is good (no scratches, dings or defects) and I feel like I got my money's worth.

My son loves this game. It came in a smaller box so we knew it would take some time to put together. Although there were a lot of screws and parts, it was very easy assembly.Published 16 months ago by Mandy Gard
