1.0 out of 5 stars Buy this bike at your own risk., June 27, 2009

If you think Huffy means quality guess again. This bike is of the poorest quality. To begin, the Owner's Manual is a generic pub that is totally worthless. If you are not familiar with bikes you will never get this one together by using the manual. Next, when I put air in the rear tire it blew out. I later found out it was because the rear wheel was warped and the tire would not seat properly. The brakes were of such inferior quality and they were so out of tolerance I could not adjust them. The repair shop replaced them with a higher quality brake. They also tried to fix the rear wheel by tightening spokes and bending it as best they could. Two more inner-tubes blew during this trial-and-error process. The fourth has not blown yet, but I'm not betting on it. A new rear wheel installed will cost about $50. I will never again buy a bicycle on line. Buyer be VERY AWARE!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality bike, July 1, 2009
This review is from: Huffy Womens Commuter 26-Inch Bike (Sports)
I ordered this bike in hopes of having a decent, quality bike to ride around town - but sadly, this is not the case with this bike. I definitely agree with the other reviewer's assessment of this product. For starters, the instruction manual is difficult to understand, and the pictures are not very helpful. It took my husband and I two hours to put together. I also experienced the back tire inner tube exploding when I first tried to air it up. I took it to a bike shop to have that repaired before I even got to ride it; later I discovered that several of the parts (brakes, etc) were such poor quality that they needed to be replaced. The total bill for the repairs was $100 - and the bike was still not a smooth or halfway-comfortable ride (the bike seat is the most uncomfortable seat I have ever encountered). By this time, I was ready to return the bike, as the $250 I had spent is equal to the price of a decent entry-level bike at my local bike shop. The only redeeming thing about this bike purchase was Amazon's customer service - they were very helpful, and are refunding my purchase price plus the cost of repairs with my return of the bike, with free shipping. Bottom line: don't buy this bike expecting quality - this is a case where you get what you pay for.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unsafe, August 19, 2009
This review is from: Huffy Womens Commuter 26-Inch Bike (Sports)
I purchased this bicycle in a sporting goods store, fully assembled and checked by the staff. It ran great for the first five miles, but then BOTH brakes went out. By this time, I was obviously 5 miles away from home, and the ride back was terrifying. I had a friend take a look at it, and he found the problem, which was that a cable needed to be tightened. I rode it again, and it seemed fine for the first two miles. Then both brakes went out again. I do not recommend this bike at all!
