5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job
I bought this foam roller because I have IT band dysfunction, and the trainer at my gym said it would help with my rehab. I didn't want to use the rollers at the gym because I found them to be a little gross, so I bought this one. I love that it has a cover - I never take it off. It seems to be sturdy and I think it will last for quite a while.

3.0 out of 5 stars Expensive for quality
I ordered the hugger mugger foam roller, and when it arrived the foam was not great quality. The cover was pretty, but not what I wanted. It also wasn't as big around as I wanted. I had gotten another roller for $8 on line, and it was about the same but with a fancy cover. It was $30. By shopping around in athletic stores, I found an excellent quality, larger roller...

This item is a must for any runner with IT band problems (common runner's knee injury). It will cut your recovery time down by leaps and bounds and have you running again much sooner than without it.

What can you say about an inanimate tube of plastic in a cloth wrap? Quality of the product seems fine and it worked out the knots just like the ones in the gym.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - the price is nice, March 29, 2007

The price is great for this foam roller with removable cover. The fabric that the cover is made from is a tad slippery, but otherwise it's a great product. I plan on buying more at this great price for friends and family.

5.0 out of 5 stars really useful, April 5, 2008

This thing is pretty great! Now you don't have to wait for your boyfriend or girlfriend to give you a massage. It rolls out your leg (& back muscles)quite effectively - like a deep tissue massage. It feels amazing and you can definitely tell where all the tension is in your legs. The only thing is that if you're constantly traveling with it, it's a little bulky - but worth it when you use it. You can also use it to do more challenging push-ups off it, and other exercizes.

This foam roll gets the job done at first, but after frequent use the foam breaks down and the roll becomes indented in areas where repeated pressure is applied. A better choice is the EVA (extra dense) kind, which will hold up much better over time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Durability concerns, December 4, 2009

I gave this product 3 stars, as I feel it is okay overall. It worked excellently for about a month. After that the roller became a bit warped and some spots on it were a little more worn than others; there are softer spots on the roller. This was with use of about 10 minutes per day. I weigh 165 lbs, or 75 kg. Now, four months later, the roller appears to be in the same condition (it has not gotten noticeably worse).

I thought that I may appreciate having a cover for the roller, but I have not found it to be of much value. As well, I have found that having a 3 foot roller does not benefit me very much. I typically only use about half the length of the roller at a time. However, that does not mean that there are not some movements you would like to do that would be easier with a 3 foot roller. I think a 2 foot long roller would be fine for me.

All in all, the roller is decent. I am not sure that any purely foam roller will not get deformed after some use. However, given the price of this product, I would have liked it to stand up to a bit more use before showing the amount of wear that is has. I would not purchase it again. I suggest that if you are going to try out foam roller use for the first time, and you thus probably have some really tight spots to work on, you should borrow a friend's roller, or use one at a gym. After a while you could decide if you want to purchase your own foam roller, or perhaps a foam roller with a PVC core, which should be more durable, or pursue a homemade option.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a piece of foam, June 9, 2008

Like the title says, it's just a piece of foam. I think I paid around $30 for this, and I'm guessing it's mainly for the nice cloth cover over the foam. The product works as described. It does feel like a massage. However, I think the cover is pretty worthless, and you should just buy the foam if it costs less than this outfit. The cover makes it very slippery, so it makes it near impossible to use on carpet alone. I tried a yoga mat, but it's still slightly slippery, though more tolerable. Regardless, I'm happy with it because I feel it really does help my back.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice, March 11, 2008

The roller works great for me, as a runner I enjoy the leg rub down I get when I use it, the removable cover makes it easy to keep clean and the foam has just the right amount of give to make the legs and quads feel great.
